Update: Very disappointing experience
SECOND UPDATE: After posting this review, someone pointed out that the plastic inside the broken knob appears to have softened or deformed, possibly from heat. Looking at it closely, I think that is a reasonable possibility. I can’t determine the cause myself, but if heat from normal operation contributed to the failure, that raises an additional concern about the material used for a control knob on an oven. I would be interested to know whether other owners have experienced the same problem. UPDATE — August 8: Our Place has now responded publicly to this review stating that I am “working through a solution directly with a member of our cx team.” I want to clarify that this issue has not been resolved. The only solution I have been offered was a $30 credit toward purchasing another oven. I have received no subsequent email offering a replacement knob, repair, replacement oven, or any other resolution. Interestingly, Our Place’s response acknowledges “how important it is to have access to a simple replacement part when the appliance itself is still working beautifully.” That is precisely the issue. My oven still works perfectly. I simply need a replacement knob. If Our Place offers an actual solution, I will gladly update this review again. Original review Very disappointing experience. I will not purchase from Our Place again. I have been a loyal customer and have purchased cookware, bakeware, gifts, and one of their countertop ovens. The oven itself still works perfectly. The only part that failed is the removable timer knob. I contacted customer service expecting that I could either purchase a replacement knob or, given the price of the appliance, that they might simply send me one. Instead, I was told that replacement knobs are not available and was offered a $30 credit toward buying another oven. That completely misses the point. I don’t need another oven. I have a perfectly good oven that could continue working for years if I could simply replace a worn knob. I ended up spending my own money to order generic replacement knobs from Amazon because the manufacturer offered no repair solution for an otherwise functional appliance. This experience has completely changed my opinion of the company. I will not spend another $250+ on one of their small appliances when a simple, removable part cannot be replaced once the warranty has expired. I value companies that stand behind their products by making them repairable, and unfortunately that was not my experience here.
