This is a tough one
This is a tough one. I will start by saying that we are forever grateful to our breeder for the most amazing healthy happy puppy we got. Puppyspot system is good and is a well-oiled machine and the reps are nice. However, we encountered many circumstances that could be considered major red flags. We would have probably bailed along the way if the payment was refundable. - We could not see the puppy (not even facetime/videocall). All you get to see is the few photos/videos on the website. The contract has a "See before you buy" clause, but when I brought it up the representative said they had never seen it and it wouldn't happen!! - We could not see the parents. They don’t give you any information about the parents, and they don’t share any health records. You can dig them up using the limited information provided on the website which weirdly the staff refuses to share! They say you would get everything after you pay but that's not accurate, you get them when you receive/pickup the puppy. - Rather than having the puppy delivered, we decided to pick him up to see where he grew up and meet the breeder. The pickup address we were given was not the breeder's place; it was a random location/house relatively close to him. Not shady at all! They said the breeders avoid outside visitors to protect the puppies/dogs. We still don’t know what that meetup place was, they didn’t bother to explain. - We didn’t meet the breeder, even though we had requested to meet him through the available option on the website. The request was approved and we were supposed to meet him on the day of the pick-up. The day before the date, we started receiving communication from another person (no explanation whatsoever) but we still hoped we would meet him. He ended up not showing up (again no explanation, no messages… just ghosting us), and a nice lady which was the photographer delivered the puppy. When we saw the puppy we felt such a huge relief that this was not a scam we had got ourselves into, even though it sure looked like one! All those above factors contributed to significant stress during what we saw as a shady process. But at the end we got a dream puppy: very playful, happy, and healthy. So you just have to trust them and take a leap of faith, but if you want to see the puppy first, meet the parents and/or the breeder, this might not be the place for you.
