I received a physical promotional mailer from ZipRecruiter advertising “Post now for free,” which included a promotional code and an expiration date of September 15, 2026. When I attempted to use the code before the expiration date, it was rejected as invalid/expired. I contacted customer service and was told I could not use the offer because I had previously used a free trial. I explained that the mailer I received did not prominently disclose that restriction and asked either for the offer to be honored or to be shown where that restriction was stated in the promotional terms. Unfortunately, the representative repeatedly stated that only one free trial is allowed and told me, “We cannot control every ad that goes out in the mail,” before offering me a discounted paid plan. My issue isn't that ZipRecruiter has eligibility requirements for promotions. My issue is receiving a promotional offer directly in the mail, with a code and future expiration date, only to be told the company will not honor it because of a restriction that was not clearly communicated on the material I received. Very disappointing experience and something other small business owners should be aware of when receiving promotional mailers
