⭐ 1-Star Review Extremely disappointing experience, read the contract carefully before purchasing. I purchased this home warranty expecting that a covered HVAC failure would provide meaningful protection. When my 27-year-old AC failed, I paid the required claim/service fee of $125 and submitted the diagnostic report and replacement estimate. The claim was ultimately limited to $150. The explanation I received was based on the AC’s “book value.” My concern throughout the entire escalation process was not simply the amount of the book value, it was where this limitation was actually stated in the contract I purchased. I repeatedly asked for the specific provision defining “book value,” explaining how it would be calculated, and identifying the age at which an appliance would no longer have meaningful coverage. I was not provided with a satisfactory answer to those questions. Instead, the explanation relied on what was described as the commonly understood meaning of “book value,” rather than a clearly defined calculation or age limitation that I could identify in my contract. I escalated the issue to the highest level available. The representative was professional and courteous, but unfortunately the outcome remained the same and my concerns about the contract language were not resolved. Paying $125 to open a claim and ultimately receiving only $150 toward a failed 27-year-old AC was extremely disappointing and did not feel like meaningful warranty protection. I’m now attempting to cancel the warranty, and even that requires submitting a form and waiting for someone to contact me regarding whether I may receive a partial refund. My biggest takeaway is this: read the entire contract very carefully before purchasing a home warranty. Don’t assume that paying for coverage means an older system will receive meaningful coverage when it fails. Ask specifically how age, depreciation, “book value,” replacement costs, and claim limits are calculated and make sure those answers are actually reflected in the contract. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this warranty program.
