Bought One $27.49 Report, Then Discovered Recurring Charges!
I purchased one background check report for $27.49 in March and received and downloaded the report I intended to purchase. Months later, I discovered that additional recurring charges had been made. After contacting Instant Checkmate, two of the recurring charges were refunded, but the company declined to refund the remaining two charges totaling $54.98, citing a two-month refund policy. I also raised concerns about how the subscription information was presented. The purchase communication I received told me my report was ready and provided a link to access it, which I did. During this dispute, while reviewing my original emails, I discovered a separate email sent about 20 minutes later that again said my report was ready but also contained recurring-subscription information. I had not read that second email at the time because I had already downloaded the report I purchased and considered my transaction complete. A supervisor told me I could escalate my remaining refund request, which I did on August 18. After receiving no confirmation that the matter had been escalated and no substantive response, I followed up again on August 25 and am awaiting a response. I am disappointed with both the recurring charges and the handling of my refund request. I am still seeking reimbursement of the remaining $54.98 and a substantive response to my escalation.
