Don’t Trust Molly Evers with a Special Occasion Dress

Title: Extremely Disappointing Experience — Late Delivery, Poor Customer Service, Sizing Problems, and a 40% Restocking Fee I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Molly Evers and would not recommend this company to anyone purchasing a dress for an important, time-sensitive occasion. I ordered my dress on September 10th to be delivered to Moorpark, California, for my son’s wedding on September 23rd, where I was to be the mother of the groom. I paid extra for expedited shipping because I needed the dress for this very special occasion. Despite ordering nearly two weeks in advance, the dress did not arrive when it was needed. I emailed customer service multiple times to explain the urgency of the situation. There is no customer service phone number, so email was my only option. Although they generally responded the following day, they did not resolve the problem. On September 21st, I even offered to pick up the dress myself because it was relatively local in Southern California. They did not even respond to my request to pick it up. By noon on September 23rd, the day of the wedding, the dress still had not arrived. At that point, I told them to cancel the order because the occasion for which I had purchased the dress was that very day. Despite my cancellation request, they sent the dress anyway—after the wedding was already over. They knew I was the mother of the groom and knew the wedding date, yet they failed to get the dress to me in time. They eventually agreed to refund my expedited shipping charge, but that did nothing to make up for the missed occasion or the frustration of dealing with this situation. To make matters worse, their return policy charges a 40% restocking fee if you return the dress. So I am left with a dress that arrived too late to serve its intended purpose, after I had already asked them to cancel the order, and I face the prospect of losing a substantial portion of my money if I return it. That is an outrageous additional burden to place on a customer when the dress was shipped too late for the event and after a cancellation request had been made. Unfortunately, the problems do not end with the shipping. When I initially ordered the dress, I received an email warning me that the dress had no elastic and would not give, emphasizing that my measurements needed to be an exact match for the size chart. My measurements matched their size 12 sizing, so I ordered the size their chart indicated was right for me. However, when the dress finally arrived, it was much too large and cannot be worn without alterations. The dress also has a lace-up back, which provides considerable adjustability. This makes their warning about the lack of give particularly frustrating, especially since the dress was oversized on me despite my measurements matching their size chart. Now I have a dress that arrived too late for the wedding and requires additional money for alterations before I can even wear it. I planned ahead, paid for expedited shipping, repeatedly contacted customer service, offered to pick up the dress locally, and ultimately requested cancellation when it still had not arrived by noon on the wedding day. They sent it anyway, after the wedding, and their return policy threatens a 40% restocking fee. On top of all that, the sizing was not what I expected based on their own measurements, leaving me with additional alteration expenses. In my opinion, the customer service is terrible, the communication is inadequate, and the overall handling of this order was unacceptable. Refunding the expedited shipping fee does not compensate for missing the occasion, the wasted time, the frustration, or the potential financial loss from returning a dress that arrived too late. I would not purchase from Molly Evers again. If you are considering ordering a dress for a wedding or another important event, I strongly encourage you to think carefully before trusting this company with your order. My experience has been an expensive and deeply disappointing lesson in what can happen when a company fails to deliver on time and does not adequately address the consequences for its customer.
