Alibaba Trade Assurance Failed Me – Suspicious Shipping Records and No Real Investigation

I am sharing my experience to warn international buyers about serious problems with Alibaba’s Trade Assurance and customer service system. My biggest concern is that the seller used a shipping record showing delivery within China, even though our agreement was for DDP delivery to my address in Canada. The tracking record showed that my order had been delivered in China on April 25, 2026. However, my custom-made products were still in production after that date. I have written evidence, including production photographs sent by the seller in June. Alibaba relied on this delivery record to treat my order as completed and release payment to the seller. Later, when I raised my complaint, I was told that my Trade Assurance protection period had expired. How can a shipment be considered delivered before the products were even completed? I believe the shipping record was used to falsely establish delivery, accelerate payment, and undermine my buyer protection. I have repeatedly asked Alibaba to investigate this, but my evidence has not been meaningfully addressed. The products were subsequently shipped to Canada in July, but to the wrong city. Instead of my agreed delivery address in Burnaby, British Columbia, the shipment went to Nanaimo. The seller admitted the address mistake in writing. Since October 2, I have contacted multiple Alibaba customer service representatives, submitted documents and evidence, and requested an investigation. Even after escalation to the Senior Customer Service Team, I continued receiving repetitive, generic explanations claiming that my order was fulfilled under EXW terms, despite my DDP agreement and the contradictory production evidence. The most alarming issue is not simply the seller’s conduct. It is Alibaba’s failure to properly investigate evidence of a potentially fraudulent shipping record that affected payment and buyer protection. Instead of a real investigation, customers appear to be trapped in a cycle of automated-looking responses, repeated requests to wait, and no accountability. What protection does Trade Assurance actually provide if a seller can use a questionable delivery record, payment can be released, and Alibaba then refuses to properly investigate because the protection period has supposedly expired? I am requesting an independent investigation, a clear explanation of the payment release and delivery records, and a fair resolution. International buyers deserve genuine protection—not a system where questionable shipping records go unchallenged and customer service cannot move beyond generic responses.
