Expedia

It started with a change in flights

The airline changed my flight that had me not reaching my home destination, they messed up with crossing over my connecting flight and they booked it for a day later -- mind you this is for December, so we'll in advance. I never received a notice but just so happened to look at my itinerary on Expedia. When I did, I contacted Expedia right away being that they were the ones I booked through and it's for this exact reason, everything in one place and so I can have the third party I go with help me when one of those services goes wrong. Initially they tell me, it's not their fault. In which I was not concerned with, they are whom I booked with so I just wanted their help. They then tell me they can't book for the same dates unless I add another stop over, I decline because frankly no one wants to fly longer, I accept that I may need to fly a day later but then question who is picking up the cost for the rental and hotel for the extra day, they refuse and say contact the airline to see ---- so if I have to contact the airline... Why did I book with them? This wasn't my fault so I am unsure why they are unable to assist. I accept that I am now responsible to pay extra for a rental and hotel. She goes to book the later flight and tells me my class is not available and they will need to ask the airline for a possible upgrade. I thought wow a silver lining, a 9 hour flight and I may get to sit in business, I thought that might be worth the trouble, she then tells me it will take 3-5 business days for the airline to accept. I get worried and say I'd rather not leave this conversation without a resolution, she assures me she will leave good notes so the next person can help. I contact them 3-5 business days later, the next agent had no idea what was going on, I am still keeping my cool and reiterating everything that occured with the last agent, she tells me to hold on and then the message says "xxxx left the conversation".... now I'm mad and desperate. Next agent logs in and asks me again what all needed to happen. I lost it and physically asked if I had not been nice enough at the beginning and if that was the reason they were doing this, where I get to repeat everything and try my luck with the next agent. At the end I just gave up, I still am stuck with a later flight, received no upgrade and still had to extend the hotel and car on my own dime plus I had to extend my earned with no pay day off. I didn't do anything wrong. All I did was trust Expedia to help me when it went wrong and they failed miserably. I have been using Expedia for +10 years, I booked in advance so that this didn't turn into an unexpected nightmare, and it still did. I'm an average wage person so not having someone to assist really cost me. A trip I felt secure with turned into a nightmare through a service that provided nothing to help. -- please note: Expedia responded to this asking to contact through their Help Center. Which has a multitude of options and nothing that points me to where I need to provide follow up. I wouldn't want people to be under the impression that their response provided any resolution.
