GiftExpress

GiftExpress is funny, but bad cust. service

I wanted to share my experience on Whatnot using GiftExpress so others can make an informed decision. First, I will say they sell a huge volume of perfumes and colognes, and if you're patient and disciplined, you really can find good deals. Just be careful not to get caught up in the excitement of bidding, because that's where people can easily overspend. Unfortunately, my experiences with their customer service have been challenging and handled unprofessionally. Back on April 18, I accidentally placed a bid and immediately requested a cancellation. I fully understand sellers are not required to cancel purchases, and their show notes clearly state they don't offer cancellations or refunds. So, although I was disappointed, I accepted it because it was my mistake. It did, however, leave me feeling that customer loyalty wasn't valued, so I branched out to other fragrance sellers. Fast forward to July 21. I happened to watch a GE show with a different host from their team who seemed pleasant. I asked to see a fragrance, bid, bought it, and everything seemed fine. A few days later, I noticed an unfamiliar charge on my credit card for a fragrance I'd never heard of and didn't purchase. When I opened the receipt, there wasn't a video receipt attached, which made me even more confused, bc that's fishy. I sent this message: "I am going through my receipts and I have a charge from you for $17.65 that I did not purchase. When I go into the receipt there is no video receipt. I don't even understand what perfume this could possibly be. Can you please help me figure out what is going on with this?" I also added that, based on a previous experience, there was a possibility they could lose me as a customer. Looking back, I probably should have left that last sentence out. This communication was brought to their attention before the product was shipped so they could cancel with no problem. This was the response I received: "You bought a video listing, what do you mean you didn't buy it? Please don't message my customer service team nonsense. Blocked. Veer" BLOCKED!! Really, for what? That response was far more disappointing than the $17.65 charge. When businesses are transacting with customers and have any issue no matter whose fault it is, in the real world the business usually tries to work with the customer. I've never heard of any businesses telling the customer blocked! How can you run a business where the customer can't even bring something to your attention? The $17.65 wasn't even the issue, it was mostly principal. I didn't purchase the perfume and I didn't want it. And I canceled it before it was shipped. It didn't mean to be an issue and could have salvaged a relationship between us. But the way they handled it turned everything upside down and created something that did not need to be created. Whether the charge resulted from an accidental bid, a misunderstanding, or even an app issue, the item hadn't shipped yet. A simple conversation, investigation, or cancellation would have cost very little and likely preserved a customer's trust. Instead, I was blocked. Looks like the self-proclaimed "big dawgs" like to run their business more like little "kitty cats". Everyone's experience may be different, but I believe good customer service is measured by how a business handles problems—not when everything goes smoothly. I also believe it is the most important part of doing business! To me, it is the difference between providing a service or doing the job out of greed with no conscience. If you shop there, just be aware that if you accidentally bid or there's any confusion about a purchase, you may not receive the level of customer service you expect. Hopefully your experience is better than mine.
