Would not recommend
The positive: I rented a car, it had four wheels, it started and drove. The rest: Guy behind the counter had no manner. As I had a debit card, I had to provide extra forms of ID, proof of address, proof of employment. Apparently because I'm a debit card holder, there were going to be extra charges. I reserved a VW Passat Estate for 128e, but ended up paying almost twice that for a Dacia Duster (not an estate). There was a young family ahead of me who were having a similar experience. They had been dealing with him for over an hour by the time I had arrived, and said he had been nothing but rude to them. Being a generous, judicious individual, I thought that maybe we had caught him on an off day, as everyone has those. Then I read some of the reviews on here, and it seems that I had the same experience as so many other people: rude and gruff, and extra charges being tacked on for some reason or another. For context, I live in Cork, and was by myself. If the experience was that stressful and unpleasant for me, I can only imagine what it must be like for someone who is not a native English speaker, that had just gotten off a long flight with young children in tow, and then had to deal with the most unhelpful individual imaginable. My guess is that he is the manager/franchisee, as that can be the only reason he's still there. Will see if I can get in touch with head office to report him, as he would be far better suited to sitting in a back room polishing the car keys than dealing with the public.
