The people at company; Ryan in particular. The agent who helped me get an advertising deal to begin with. That fit my time and my budget. And was willing to accommodate me. Was able to accomplish everything they set out to do. With courteous service and attention to my work and the book as well. Would highly recommend this company to anyone. Book Writing Maestros promised me a $700 partial refund by November 25, 2025. I provided my wire transfer information and have heard nothing since.
They missed three formatting deadlines, failed to deliver correct work, then blamed me—despite knowing the project’s complexity from the start. I paid $1,100 for formatting that was never properly completed and had to hire someone else.
They are also still withholding $1,300 of a $2,400 marketing fee for services I never used. Only $1,100 was refunded over a year ago.
Buyer beware: If you pay upfront and they fail to deliver, do not expect a refund.

Please check out Writersweekly.com for a true analysis of Book Writing Maestros. You have to dig around on their website, but they are a "watchdog" for authors so they don't get scammed by so called publishers.
Here is my ongoing saga, with my "project manager" after a vague reply to my last three emails: My most recent communication:
"Please explain to me why I am not getting all the remaining $1400. You have never given me an explanation other than you talked to your team. What...are they all contributing? That money should have been in some kind of a holding/escrow account. Poor business ethics are involved in this debacle. When we finalized everything in Sept/Oct. I was told I was going to get half. ($700) and the other half later. It's now later! "
Now they are offering a less than that $500 and the rest "later".
Original Post:
I engaged Book Writing Maestros in July 2024 for two services: formatting ($1,100) and a partial payment for marketing ($2,400) which service I never used. Over the course of working with them, I encountered significant delays and communication challenges.
The formatting team struggled with the complexity of my manual, which is heavily structured with tables, text boxes, and columns. Multiple deadlines (May 2025, June 2025, and July 2025) were set but not met.
Despite assurances of assigning a senior project manager and formatting team, the project remained incomplete after several months.
I received a partial refund of $1,000, but the remainder of the $2,500 refund was not provided, even though the company advertises a 100% money-back guarantee.
Communication was inconsistent, and after repeated attempts to resolve the matter (including letters to the compliance officer), I did not receive a response.
Ultimately, the project was not completed, I missed my intended book launch window, and I hired another formatter outside of this company. Based on my experience, I did not receive the value promised for the services purchased.

A fantastic experience
With a terrible experience with another self-publishing company, I was very leery and cynical of any similar company. Max, the Sr. Book Consultant was very professional, caring and sincere. It took several weeks before he won over my trust and confidence in him and company. Marcus and Jason became my Writing Project Managers and they were tireless in the hours they spent with me, coaching me through the steps and techniques necessary for two successful books. This was followed up by the Head of Development Dept. and he also did a remarkable job. I would rate this company 5 times the previous company I had dealt with. They deserve a 10!!!
