We submitted several invoices and the website was not properly working. We had to keep submitting them sometimes up to five times before they were accepted, very time consuming . in addition, we are still pending are reimbursements on several claims despite them being accepted.

Hello Susan,
We are aware of technical issues that are affecting some of our users and we regret any inconvenience that has caused. We also want to assure you that our team is diligently working to fix any remaining bugs and we sincerely appreciate your patience! We see you recently spoke with a representative and all claims submitted have been completed. You can review the Explanation of Benefits for each claim submitted via your Customer Account. This document helps to explain in greater detail how each specific invoice and related line items were applied toward your coverage, including your deductible, co-pay, and any reimbursement issued. You will also find a claim decision message for each submission. We do ask that you allow 10-15 business days to receive any reimbursement checks sent in the mail, as we unfortunately have no control over USPS delays. However, you do have the option to sign up for direct deposit for future claim reimbursements. If you have any additional questions regarding your claims, please feel free to reach out and we're happy to assist you further.

This company will do anything to avoid paying a claim. They constantly come up with ways not to pay. They took my money for 1 1/2 years and never paid a claim. terrible, terrible company. Do not take a policy

I rescued my 8 year old pup. He’s now 12.5 and Embrace has done everything in their power to say any claim is linked to a preexisting condition. When we rescue, we don’t know if a pet has health conditions. I went above and beyond to get them the pet records from a prior owner and all they did was use that to exclude claims. Same excuses given for the past 4.5 years. Finally I switched carriers because I couldn’t deal with their horrible claims department anymore.

I have had 5 dogs over the last 30 years. 3 french bulldogs. Finally purchased a policy for my french puppy. He was diagnosed 11/20/25 with boas. He had been to the vet 5 times since 9/10/2024. Vet never mentioned boas. Told me thyroid or addisons disease was causing regurgitation. Vet stuck boas in his file in 2024 without ultrasound or any imaging. Obviously to cover herself. Embrace denied every bill after that 2024 date as pre existing. I am stuck eating over 5k in bills and needing surgery that will cost 10k. It’s still typical insurance, pass the baton, point the finger and make it impossible to get a live person to appeal. Don’t waste any money if your breed has potential classic problems. Every french bulldogs can be diagnosed with stenotic nares or boas. Policy is a worthless piece of paper. Seeing my premiums are $1200 a year

I used paid for Embrace Pet Insurance for my dog for many years but hardly ever submitted a claim. In April I submitted a claim for an emergency visit for my dog and it’s been a nightmare to get reimbursed. They claim they haven’t received information which they have. I received multiple and almost daily notices that they need clinical notes from a vet that I already told them he has not seen in years. Their portal was not allowing me to submit requested documents, because it was not working properly but they continue to send me repeated emails even after I email the info myself through the claims department. Their communication system is a mess and they are delaying my reimbursement by any means possible. I’ve been reading that they will find any “preexisting”event such as vomiting a “condition” and not reimbursement. I will update and let you know if they do the right thing and how long it takes them to do it. This experience has been very frustrating and I think they are hoping I’ll give up and stop trying to get my reimbursement.

Hello Karen,
Our only requirement in order for the coverage to take effect at the end of the initial waiting/exclusionary periods is that your pet was seen for a documented physical exam by a licensed vet either within the 12 months prior to the start date of the policy or within the first 14 days of the start date. We do strive to be as upfront as possible in regard to the Terms and Conditions of the policy, with it being noted in the acknowledgements that have to be agreed to upon purchase and in several onboarding emails. If there is no exam done during this timeframe, we must extend the illness waiting period to the date of the first sufficient exam, which is why we make multiple attempts to locate any medical history from the pre-policy period, when possible.
We see our team has reached out to you with more details regarding what is needed at this time and why, but if you have additional questions or would like further clarification, we encourage you to contact our Customer Care Center and we're happy to go over your concerns further. Our goal is always to support our policyholders and their pets and we're sorry for any disappointment you have experienced thus far! We appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback as we are always looking to improve our services.

The claims submission process is very straightforward. The customer reps have always provided exceptional service and answered all of my questions satisfactorily.
The new app still needs some tweaking though as it still has a few bugs in it, but the customer service rep was aware and explained what I needed to do.

The only positive experience I've ever had with an insurance company
I adopted a senior chi mix in 2019, and he was insured through Embrace from 2020 through 2026. Every experience I had with the company was great; all of my claims were covered, and when I needed an explanation there was a lways someone to help. The Paw Desk, a 24/7 helpline for pet parents, was a fantastic resource. Everyone I encountered at Embrace was compassionate and knowledgeable,
I had to cancel my policy this week. The premiums became unaffordable at renewal. If it made sense for me to keep Embrace, I would. They have kept both of us comfortable for six years.

I enrolled my dog in embrace when she was 1 year old. Premium was high but after considering it for awhile I signed up for $58.06 /mo. Two years and no submitted claims it is increased to $69.05. When I spoke to customer service they said rates are adjusted every year!
What would the cost be when my dog gets older? Certainly unaffordable. No mention of yearly adjustment when I enrolled or I never would’ve. So I just wasted $1300 thinking I secured premiums on well dog that would remain during the life of my dog. Sorry embrace it is not for me

Maureen,
Thank you for reaching out. We know a premium increase is never ideal. Premiums do increase over time with all insurance products, and pet insurance is no exception. Some of the factors that impact premiums each year with Embrace include the age of a pet, claims trends, tenure of the policy, and inflation, which includes the increases we are seeing in veterinary costs. Our premiums are based on actuarial data of all the policies we have in force and over the lifetime with any pet insurance company you are likely to see very similar trends, it just may vary when the increase(s) occur.
We are sorry to hear that Embrace may not a good fit for you. To help with rising costs, we do structure our policies to allow each Pet Parent to change their coverage parameters and adjust their premium based on what they feel is best for their individual pet and situation. If you'd like to explore changing your pet's coverage, you can do this via your MyEmbrace account, or by giving us a call at 800-511-9172 and we are happy to help.

I insured a 6 month puppy just over a week after adopting from a shelter. There is a waiting period for the insurance to start. The second day after the accident portion of the coverage began my puppy passed a bloody bundle of sticks and needed to be hospitalized. Embrace will not cover it as there was no specific incident in which he ate a stick (he was just crazy about eating everything after being in the shelter his whole life and it was a constant battle). I know all insurance companies make their money by denying claims but this company aligned itself with USAA and I expected the same level of quality and service. They are nothing like USAA...

Hello Thor,
We appreciate you choosing Embrace for your puppy's health insurance needs and we are sincerely sorry to hear that your experience with our company has not met your expectations. We do strive to be as upfront as possible about the coverage regarding the exclusion of pre-existing conditions, which is anything noted as symptomatic or diagnosed prior to the start of the policy and through the initial waiting or exclusionary periods. Since this was an ongoing issue that started prior to the policy purchase, your claim did not meet the criteria of an accident per your policy's terms and conditions. However, any time you feel there was an incorrect assessment you do have the option to appeal. We see you've spoken with a team member who has provided additional information regarding this process. We understand this was not the outcome you were expecting, and if you have any other questions or would like further clarification, please feel free to reach out to the claims adjuster directly and they will be happy to assist you.
Best regards,
The Embrace Team
