As a successful professional, I kept my alcohol abuse problem hidden from everyone including my doctor, but I knew it was diminishing my life and my life span. I knew I needed to do something and tried for a year to stop on my own, but could not. I was afraid to try medication but kept going back to Oar and finally made the leap. I received the medication guilt and embarrassment free, no judgment, and it has been life changing. I can't believe the difference. I told my husband I feel lighter, a weight has been lifted, and I can't believe how easy it has made leaving alcohol behind. I have now convinced my husband to try as well.

I find the virtual support is great. I like the dashboard and I like the weekly check in. The medication is definitely working. My alcohol cravings have decreased significantly since beginning this program. Consistency is the key!!

I've researched this drug for about a year before I spoke to my physician about my alchohol use. She recommended another drug and an inpatient program. Neither was an option for me. Oar allowed me to try this program and drug and I am pleased with the results. I have very little desire to drink and the occasion that I will enjoy a glass of wine or a coctail I do so with out that strong urge to overdrink.

I never write reviews, but here goes as I know there are people out there like me who are wondering if this could help them. I was a heavy daily drinker for 30 years with weekend binges. Over the last 4 years I have been able to build in AF days into my weeks, but the weekend binges steadily got worse. I hated going to dinner parties or restaurants as the anxiety of where the next drink was coming from was too intense. Social parties were mentally crimpling as I would battle trying to moderate my intake through the night but would end up getting smashed anyway – embarrassing myself and my partner. My problem – no off button. Just one drink and there was only one way it would end up and that was blackout drunk – I was an AUD posterchild. I hated myself for it, but I couldn’t control it and I was so close to losing everything. I had been looking at naltrexone for some time, maybe years, but could not get over the energy barrier, shame and embarrassment of going to my Dr to see if I can get it prescribed. Then I found Oar. The online questions and approval were so straightforward, and I didn’t have to speak to anyone face-to-face. That was a big deal for me, because of the shame and embarrassment I felt. I couldn’t contain my excitement when my prescription arrived. I had already decided, given my pattern of drinking, that the Sinclair Method was the right approach for me. I will never forget my first beer (I’m a big IPA drinker 6-7%) 1hr after my first dose of naltrexone. No headrush, no where’s my next beer, no let’s get smashed - it just felt normal. I thought to myself, if this is what “normal” people feel when they drink, I am so far off the spectrum and realized how out of control I really was. I am astonished by how effective TSM is for me. I am only one week in but I know, and have promised myself, that I will never drink again without naltrexone, and I hope that one day I will reach extinction. Thank you, Oar and Dr Sinclair for saving my life, marriage, career and relationship with my kids. Naltrexone is truly a miracle!
