Pirate ship lost my son’s two huge college bags filled with his clothes and shoes. The bags are sitting at the Clearwater UPS center 30 minutes from our house, but Pirate ship had refused to coordinate getting the bags delivered to us. Pirate just points their finger at UPS, but UPS said we have to work with Pirate. Also, we can’t talk to a live person at Pirate. Their system only allows for chat bot or text. Pirate is terribly unhelpful and they don’t care. This has been the must frustrating experience ever!
Easy to use and user friendly. Ran into a verification issue but customer service helped me resolve it quickly and professionally.
This is the best shipping platform I have had experience with. We have a separate UPS account, but the savings provided by Pirate Ship exceed our UPS account discounts by a lot. Also, unlike UPS and USPS they actually have customer service!
The savings and simple use is amazing, and the best we have ever used.
I've been a PirateShip customer for nearly a year now, have shipped dozens of items, and the level of service has been excellent all-around. Easy to use, reliable, best prices and great customer service. But the reason I'm writing this review is after seeing reviews left by others, griping about items that were damaged in shipment, whining about UPS add-on charges due to claims of incorrect package size/weight, and such matters. PIRATESHIP DOES NOT CONTROL THESE FACTORS. Attaching blame to a company that simply resells UPS and USPS services, blaming them in some way for a damaged package or a bogus UPS adjustment, is totally unfair. Do your research, people. UPS is notorious for making bogus adjustments. They will claim that your package weighs more than your perfectly-calibrated scale says it weighs, or that the length of the box was 14.0003 inches rather than the 14 inches you stated, and auto-bill the shipper (you) a financial penalty. THIS IS A KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED UPS SCAM. It's not PirateShip. If you want to avoid it, always list your packages as 1 lb. heavier than scale weight, and if the package is longer than 13 3/4", list it as 15", not 14". OR BETTER YET, AVOID UPS ALTOGETHER. In 26 years of shipping (I used eBay shipping prior to switching to PirateShip about a year ago), I've never had a USPS surcharge due to package size or weight, not even once... these bogus UPS size/weight charges didn't start happening until maybe 3 or 4 years ago. I've saved $$$ in these bogus charges since cutting them out of my shipments except when absolutely necessary. Finally, PirateShip clearly states the liability limits for each service offered, and offers add-on insurance to cover higher-cost losses. It's offered, it's right there, on the interface, clear as day. They don't know that your box contains a $400 designer handbag, and if you decline insurance, you get ONLY what USPS or UPS provides; you and you alone are responsible for the remainder of your loss. Bottom line: PirateShip has become a fantastic, reliable... and, yes, a FUN shipping partner for my small business. I wish I'd found them sooner, but hey, I'm with them now and that's where I'm staying!
Go to see pirate ship.com in general seems to function pretty cool and it’s got the fun aspect of a pirate crew handling your needs but when push comes to shove and something happens with your shipment it relies on UPS and support stops. I shipped two multi thousand dollar ferrari seats resulting in some damage which was minor but a month later still nothing resolved other than I had to send the seller back $1000 to fix the seat.
Great for small business. Good prices and easy to use for no monthly fee. I recommend Pirate Ship to my friends and business contacts.
I am filing this complaint against Pirate Ship regarding misleading practices surrounding shipping protection, insurance disclosure, and accountability for lost or damaged shipments. As a business owner, I trusted Pirate Ship as a professional shipping platform. However, after experiencing multiple major losses, it became clear that customers carry nearly all financial risk while Pirate Ship avoids meaningful accountability. In one case, a shipment valued at over $2,000 arrived completely destroyed. The items were broken, dirty, removed from packaging, and entirely unusable. Despite the severity of the damage, the reimbursement offered was negligible compared to the actual loss. In another case, a separate shipment valued at approximately $2,000 was sent using an expedited 2-Day label purchased through Pirate Ship for around $100. The package was shipped on May 12, 2026, and still has not arrived. During the claims process, I discovered recovery may be limited to only $100 because additional insurance was not purchased. My primary concern is that Pirate Ship does not adequately emphasize the importance of purchasing insurance during checkout. The platform makes it easy for customers to assume shipments are reasonably protected, especially when paying high shipping costs for expedited services. The consequences of not purchasing additional insurance are not clearly or strongly communicated. Pirate Ship also appears to take little to no accountability when items are delayed, lost, or damaged, instead pushing customers into frustrating claims systems with limited support and minimal reimbursement. I believe Pirate Ship should provide far clearer warnings regarding carrier liability limitations and improve transparency surrounding shipment protection and claims expectations. Sincerely, Jason Dorsey
Pirate Ship is very easy to use and reliable. Plus who wouldn’t want to save money?! I’m glad to have discovered it.
I have been using Pirate Ship for my small business for about 2 years to send packages to my customers. It is a very easy site to navigate and compare costs between UPS & USPO. And it is free to use! I highly recommend it for your shipping needs. The other day my husband brought a small package to the PO to mail. The clerk at the desk told him he should use Pirate Ship, it would be several dollars less! Now that’s a recommendation you can’t dispute!
Great site that saves a lot of money. If you have any issue, they are there immediately to help. I highly recommend, and I tell everyone I can about the amazing rates!!
I love Pirate Ship! So fun and easy to purchase and print labels from home. It’s great that my addresses and package details are saved for when I ship again.
Pirate ship has been my go to for so many years Easy to use and saved a lot of money and hassle. Easy to track shipments. Useful reports.
Extremely pleased with the affordable rates and excellent customer service I receive from PIrate Ship. Their website is easy and fun to navigate. They have made my shipping life so much better. Beyond thankful that Pirate Ship exists so I don't have to deal with the incompetent and sometimes rude postal workers. I have used Pirate Ship numerous times and will continue to use them numerous more in the future.
This company offers a lower cost to ship a UPS package. I never got the same answer twice. I bought the label - hopefully UPS will print it and ship . Buyer Beware! This is an amendment to my original review. Dealing with Pirate ship was very frustrating for me yesterday, to say the least, but I did save a considerable amount of money - approx 50 percent of what UPS would charge. UPS printed the label and shipped my packages without incident. Pirate ship works. $$$$$ Five Dollar signs for reduced shipping price.
I love Pirate Ship. You get the big boy discount, and if you use their optional insurance, absolutely no hassles if there's a claim. In about 700 packages I did have one disappear, and the claim was paid within 36 hours. Interface is fairly easy to use, and it absolutely saves time and money. The discounts over retail are generally around 40 - 50%. Sometimes higher.
I’ve been using Pirate Ship for over five years and I couldn’t be happier. It’s been smooth and reliable the whole time—never had a single issue.
I shipped 3 boxes that measured 18 1/8 x 18 x 16. The weights were as follows, 31 pounds, 28 pounds and 33 pounds. I added an additional 2 pounds to each box to ensure weight was covered. I took the boxes into a UPS store for shipping. The clerk took the boxes, placed them on the scale, comfirmed weight and attached my printed labels. My boxes, which were shipped to my vacation home, arrived on the expected date. Upon delivery, one of my boxes was crushed so severely, and appeared to have had a substance spill or leak onto the box. Items were damaged and broken. I didn't make a big deal out of it, as the value of the broken items were not that valuable. A few days after delivery, I received an email from Pirate Ship, informing me that each of my boxes weighed 37 pounds and the boxes measures 19 x19 x 17 and I was charged (by UPS) an additional $4.37, for each box. This was absolutely not true. What's more disturbing is that Pirate Ship blamed UPS for using my credit card to charge the additional fees. That's another lie. Pirate Ship used my credit card without authorization, for the inflated and fraudulent charges. I sent several emails to Pirate Ship to discuss this issue. Pirate Ship refused to reverse the charges. When I stated that I was going to dispute the charges with my credit card company, for unauthorized transactions, they threatened to close my account. But that's okay, because I have several options for shipping. When a company doesn't have a telephone contact option, that's bad business.
Always convenient, best prices, and saves me time at the post office avoiding those long lines.
