Hey there! I just tried out the free trial of this software that removes DRM from Kindle books. I have many ebooks purchased from Amazon, but I wanted to be able to read them on devices besides just my Kindle. I figure if I own the books, I should be able to use them however I want, you know? Moreover I don't have to keep my Amazon account active to be able to access my purchased books.
The free trial only lets you unlock 20% of each book, but it was enough for me to test it out. I was really impressed by how fast it decrypted my Kindle books! Super handy if you want more flexibility with your ebook collection. The full paid version probably unlocks everything, but the trial gave me a good feel for how well the software works. I am considering buying the full version.

I tried the free trial to remove DRM from a .acsm file i purchased online since I unfortunately coudn't open it on multiple devices. With the free version you only get 20% of the file; plus it only converts text (no pictures etc.). However I think it's a good way to see how the software works. I will see if i want to purchase the paid version and update this review accordingly.
Responding to Epobor's response I updated with new update (2nd update so far) and nothing has changed. I even tested with a previous, years ago, purchased book. Not only can Epubor not remove drm from recently purchased books but the 2nd recent problem is that it marks some old and newer purchases as rentals.

Epubor helps convert single-purchased books. We won't support rented files.
Upgrade the Epubor Ultimate to the latest vesion and then try your book again. If still failed, send the screenshot image and error message to our technical team.
I have a lifetime subscription but Epubor Ultimate has not been working to convert purchased Kindle books since 2022. Their solutions is for me to purchase another of their new products. They must think I was born stupid! What a ripoff.

Upgrade the Epubor Ultimate to the latest version v3.0.15.907 as it now supports dedrm kindle books downloaded via the kindle for pc mac. I mean, there is no need to degrade your kindle desktop. And it also works for books since 2022 / 2023.

1. You can request refund for your order of Epubor Ultimate. And if you need to convert new kindle books without any issues, you can consider purchasing Kindle Converter.
2. To convert azw3 books, you should own a Kindle device because Epubor Ultimate works based on the KSN for successful format conversion.
3. Upgrade the Epubor Ultimate to the latest version v3.0.15.907, it supports new kfx books.

After some initial difficulties, I managed to do it with the help of YouTube videos. It is a super way to read the eBooks on my Tolino. Unfortunately, you can only convert eBooks until the end of 2022, the version for the 2023 books did not work for me.
But all in all I am very satisfied.
Tried the free trial of ultimate. Followed all the instructions but when I sent the resulting file to my Kindle, had an email from Amazon saying the file could not be downloaded. Complete waste of time!

I made this much harder than it needed to be. If you download the product and read the directions, you will be good. For me I was using Kindle. The fix was as simple as "click here" the version I had was fixed and The conversion was painless. Now I would love to buy a lifetime license, but I don't yet have the money. Maybe I will help be a translator!!

To convert Kindle books published after January 2023, you should "downloand and transfer via USB" and then use Epubor Ultimate to help convert it. Otherwise, you should try the Epubor Kindle Converter.
Newest version now requires user provide Amazon+Audible login credential before it will convert any files. So user has to give the keys to their Amazon and audible account to Epubor and hope for the best?
This exposure risks someone, other than you, to make changes to, and charges to, your AMZ and Audible accounts. I've been a loyal and very satisfied user of this software for years, up until this latest program update. I'm not willing to take these kinds of risks .

A newer version will soon be released, it will support the aax files adding and draging, as before. The login is required because some people will fail to download the aax via browser, especailly for those non-American users, so epubor team developed out a new feature which supports these types of files.
Once the newer version released this week, you can choose either method to download via library or within epubor.

the application is very useful, but lately as we have to pay it ends up being bad to do some things. A tip would be to do one conversion per day or something like that for those who use the platform for free.
It worked, eventually, but let down by the concise instructions coming to a halt and assumptions kicking in. I nearly gave up after a couple of failures with Kindle for PC version just not working despite the link given by Epubor.
So, 5 stars for the success in transferring from Kindle to Kobo and four stars for the assumptions and frustrations.
My thoughts.
- Firstly, get the full version, well worth it.
- For pre 2023 books, when you have deregistered Kindle (as per instructions) I downloaded Kindle for PC version 1.17.44170. The next steps worked perfectly.
- However the final instructions "just connect your Kobo to your computer with USB, copy the newly converted DRM free epub books to it." Yikes, confusion time. You need to click on the folder icon at bottom right of Epubor screen (this is critical) and the new epub files will appear in a window showing in your File Explorer. From there copy the epub books to the Kobo reader drive, also appearing in your File Explorer window. Done.
- For 2023 Kindle books, I downloaded latest Kindle for PC version 1.40.65535. Follow the instructions and it gets the job done but be aware that the epub book shows up as a file in your downloads and needs to be dragged from there to the Epubor screen. Transfer to Kobo as I have noted above.
Anyway, I got there eventually and hope this helps overcome any confusion for non-nerds, like me.
Is a really easy software to use. Just drag and drop checking the suitable options. If everything goes smooth is a nice solution, the thing is when something happens, like 0 bytes pdf or something like that and there is no warning or fail message. It takes a bit looking in Q/A to find what's going on. But in general is a nice solution to use.
"Geld Zurück" läuft offenbar nicht. Trotz unzufriedenstellender Leistung, korrekter de-Authorisierung und Mail an den Support nach einer Woche immer noch weder Antwort noch Geld zurück.
Edit: Changed from one to four stars as support meanwhile contacted me and released refund. Software looks good, workflow is fine, although it did not meet my needs. As refund finally worked now, there's no reason to keep up a bad rating.

Epubor was a fast and easy to use pdf and ebook manager and decrypter, I found the UI not perfect but everything else about the product is perfect and functional, this is why I rate Epubor a 4 out of 5 stars
