Unexpected $214.92 renewal with almost no transparency
FastSpring placed an unexpected $214.92 authorization on my PayPal account for the renewal of a WooCommerce plugin. The payment description identified the merchant as “Bright Market LLC dba FastSpring” and displayed only the truncated product reference “[wpunit_store] Advan…,” making it unnecessarily difficult to understand what I was actually being charged for.
After investigating the transaction myself, I discovered that the $199 subtotal corresponded to the Advanced Woo Search Agency plan, which covers 25 websites. We operate one WooCommerce website. The appropriate Personal plan costs $79 per year.
I immediately contacted FastSpring and requested that the subscription be changed to the Personal tier and that the $129.60 difference, including tax, be returned. At this point, I have received only an automated confirmation that a support case was created.
A payment company handling subscriptions should clearly identify the product, subscription tier, billing period, renewal price, and actual software provider before processing a charge. Customers should not have to conduct their own research to understand a $214.92 withdrawal from their account.
I will update this review if FastSpring promptly corrects the subscription and returns the difference. Until then, this has been an opaque and unacceptable billing experience.
I bought an item by mistake and was quickly referred to Steinberg's support who quickly contacted me and solved the problem. Both companies were very efficient to my satisfaction.
Great job!
Terrible service.
I purchased a Jetico software product through this company. My payment could not be processed using multiple different bank cards, and their support team kept giving incompetent responses, repeatedly blaming my bank. In the end, this turned out not to be true. Jetico eventually gave me a one-year subscription free of charge, and somehow we managed to complete the payment. However, I am still receiving emails demanding payment. At this point, the support team has stopped responding altogether.
Do not choose this company as your payment processing partner. Failed payments and lost customers are exactly what you can expect.
I forgot about a subscription and was (rightfully) billed 80€ and TWO WEEKS later I finally managed to reach out and ask them if I could get a refund. So it’s been two weeks since I had this product, though I hadn’t used it. Fastspring replied the next day and guided me to the specific customer service and then astropad (my forgotten subscription) was kind enough to refund me immediately. I have my money back after only one work day and only talked to nice people 10/10 experience, I am a Fastspring and Astropad advocate now even though I don’t own any products yet lol. Nicest and most effective customer support I’ve ever experienced.
