I was really disappointed with my experience. The sizing is completely inaccurate, despite following the size guide and sizing up for more comfort. For a pair of shoes costing £142, I expected much better. To make matters worse, I then had to pay $45 (around £35) just to return them because they didn’t fit. So not only did I end up without the shoes, I also lost an additional £35 for returning them. For a company selling premium handmade shoes, I expected accurate sizing and a fairer returns process. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend WoodChuckSato based on my experience.
Such a lovely team, they were incredibly helpful and communicated with me throughout the whole process and made sure I received my tabis in time for my holiday!! They are beautiful quality and the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. The entire experience was absolutely wonderful.
They’re a Chinese supplier (not jap) that have really bad customer service. I bought a pair and despite measuring they were a bit too small, the company said I had to pay a handling and shipping fee of $65 aus which is ridiculous so I sold them online instead. I reordered and the shoes fit better in length but then feet so wide and the quality is completely different, the split toe is soooo split it looks like all the cheaper brands you see duping them. Plus after a couple of wear it deteriorates in appearance so quickly. I wonder why they smell so chemical too not like that nice leather smell. Such a waste of money I don’t recommend. Please save yourself the $280 . UPDATED REVIEW I emailed the company as the second pair I bought were opening so much at the split it looked terrible. To my surprise they offered to send a new pair as they shouldn’t gape so much. I had to provide proof of donating the shoes or destroying them (I donated) and they sent a new pair over. This was the first time I was actually pleased with my experience. The new shoes are better and hopefully it doesn’t split open. I probably won’t buy from them again as the cost and shipping and return processes are too complicated and not pleasant. The only thing I wonder is if I were a big influencer would they have made the process so hard? Hm.

I’ve had a really bad experience shopping with Woodchucksato. I decided to spend more by supporting a business that claims to hand make shoes. I measured my feet based on the size chart and went up one size to be safe (I measured 23.5cm at the longest toe to heel, a 36, I purchased a size 37). When I received the shoes, one did not fit my foot and the other was extremely tight. I reached out to the company only 5 minutes after receiving the shoes to advise them. They asked me to measure my feet on paper, put a measuring tape on it and send it to them, which I did. They suggested my size should fit, if anything I measured the size below (36). They then said either I can pay $30 USD to return them or pay myself. I was wondering - why should I have to pay to return a pair of shoes that I sized up in? If anything, they should be too big. Once I pushed back stating the sizing of the shoes are off (either a faulty pair or the size chart is incorrect), they offered to pay 5% shipping ‘to help make this process a little easier for you’. Which is $1.50. It felt extremely condescending. When I pushed back again, they had me insert a measuring tape inside the shoes from toe box to end to show the length of the shoes. I did this and sent images again from all angles. These photos illustrated why the shoes didn’t fit: both shoes should be 24cm long based on the size chart. One measured in at 22.5cm, smaller than the smallest size of shoes they offer. The other measured at 23cm, a size 35. Both notably different from a size 37 - two sizes too small. Once they replied, they then asked for me to cover half the shipping back to them for $15 USD because I didn’t purchase their ‘worry free’ shipping protection. They said they’d refund it if they found a fault with the shoes. Their website has a policy where faults are covered, which is also something that’s covered under consumer rights protection anyways. They were trying to make ME pay to return shoes that were faulty. After some back and forth - 16 e-mails - they then conceded and provided a return label. After all this, I did not trust the company and have decided to take them to a cobbler to see if I can get them stretched out. I then left a review on their website under the shoe listings. Since I left the review, multiple other 5 star reviews have been posted, but my review is notably missing. I highly recommend going elsewhere to purchase shoes, the company is not trustworthy and will push back against your consumer rights. I’ve had a quick google after and can see people having similar experiences with the company pushing back. The shoes aren’t cheap, save your money and go elsewhere. I’m really upset by my experience and now have expensive shoes I cannot wear and don’t trust the company enough to return.
Love how curated and well-designed these shoes are. However, the toe box feels a bit too narrow for my foot, even though I sized up half a size (I'm usually a 39.5 and ordered a 40). I would have needed a little more room around the big toe for a comfortable fit
Fantastic company. I wasn’t sure what size of the Mary Jane’s I should order and the customer service were super helpful and responsive. I’ve placed an order on the 27th of April and received my Mary Jane’s on the 9th of May. I have maison margiela loafers and ballerina flats and woodchuck sato are much softer leather and feel much more comfortable! Would definitely recommend!!!!

This is my second time purchasing from Woodchuck Sato! The first time I purchased a slingback, my order took quite a while to ship out and I got worried so I contacted customer service. They replied almost instantaneously and said they would expedite my order, and provided me with a link where I could track my package at every step of the way! When I received my order, the shoes were well packaged and fit well For my second order, I got the classic flats. My order took a little less than a week to arrive and it came well packaged as well. Though the shoes were a little too big on me (I should have checked the actual measurements instead of just picking out my usual size), a heel pad did the trick to help my flats fit a little more snuggly :) Overrall great product and great customer service as well.

The packaging was super luxurious. The information cards were really cute. They were sized a little big. I’m usually at 38 but I sometimes get 37 in heels and I should’ve gotten 37 in these but apart from that I’m happy.
