Very low tech and relatively high cost with 3-year contracts.
When home security consisted of a door or motion sensor tripping an alarm siren, ADT was a good business. Since I began with them 35 years ago, their technology has been stagnant and the company management has become very sloppy.
A call to an account specialist led to my being left on hold for over an hour. When I finally had someone on the call, I learned that someone had substituted an unknown telephone number as my primary contact number more than ten years ago. No explanation was provided.
I don’t anticipate this company will survive another five years. Agents seem to be resigned to that idea.

Mediocre quality Chinese imports at double the expected price.
We brought our family of four to the Seattle store armed with a large dividend to spend at the end of winter. After scouring the entire store, we left without a single purchase. The clothes, predominately made in China, were of the typical REI drab colors and mediocre quality. The rare garment that I thought I could possibly wear, was priced twice what I’d guess.

Bait and Switch. A huge waste of time.
This company sends out notices of great sale prices almost daily, but the links to those sales show almost exclusively full priced items.
I’ve been unsuccessful a number of times when trying to find an item that’s actually on sale.
The final straw was today. A replay of “bait and switch.”
I found a jacket pictured under a banner that says “up to 70% off” When I inquired, I was told there was a certain color and size on sale. Not the one pictured under that banner! The one that I selected was at the regular full price; higher than I can get it for elsewhere!
