I have a “ high peeing” kitty who will actually elevate his rear end while he urinates seemingly to actually target the waste opening in my LR5. My first LR5 had to be replaced under warranty because urine ended up through out the entire machine. Since then I have found a seller on Etsy, 3DPrintsbyMeg who sells a trap door blocking urine from getting in but I can see where a more integrated version would be even better. She’s done several versions testing her product and I definitely encourage you to reach out to her for a possible collaboration! Other than that my LR5 has been really pretty great! All my kitties ( 4 total) love the always clean litter and pretty much ignore our other litter boxes. With 4 cats, I do have to spend 10 to 15 minutes a day monitoring that an extra cycling or clean up isn’t needed, but that’s a small price to ensure a clean bed of litter each and every time a kitty uses it.
