The freedom
The freedom of doing school on the days we want and not at a specific time is great! The teachers instructions are pretty clear and easy to understand. I think she is getting a great education. We started the end of May 2026.

Acellus changed their program so a student is only allowed so many steps a week. This is a ploy to get more money on their monthly fee. If your student is struggling with a subject, they just keep making you watch the same video over and over again rather than mixing up their teaching style. I loved this program in the beginning and now I despise it. Any help you call for you get a sorry we can’t help you on the other end of the line. They do NOT care about your students growth. Don’t waste your money if you homeschool, find a better curriculum.
easy to use interface, good content
PennFoster teaches the exact same way for $50 a month compared to $500 a month. I didn't realize this until after I spent close to $10,000.
Reasonable timely credit transfer from public school to Acellus, easy to follow app navigation, engaging graphics and instruction from learning videos for students. Have not ran into problems, God willing graduation runs smoothly. No complaints at this time.
Literally the worst customer service run by a bunch of amateurs that seem to literally copy and paste responses. They changed their step policy so now my Senior who was supposed to be graduating in August now has 4-5 more months left. No email was sent out to parents or students….so many parents are complaining. Go read the latest Better Business Bureau complaints! Also, some parents have stated that if you have an opinion that is negative about their services and the way they handle their business that your scholarship gets revoked. Many have stated this is a complete money grab. So very, very disappointing and unprofessional.
Dawn, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns and we're sorry to hear that your student is behind schedule. Pacing limits were adjusted in some of our courses, as we noticed a growing trend of students attempting to complete an entire school year's worth of coursework in as little as three weeks. Please feel welcome to get in touch with our Support Team at (866) 684-6127. We are happy to answer any questions and provide any assistance!

My daughter was struggling in regular school but she has really taken to the Acellus program!
Your student's progress is the best review we could ask for!
It helped my daughter succeed. She has brought all her grades up with this program. I wish I did it alot sooner .
This used to be an ok school until they lowered the goals substantially. They stopped answering emails. It's supposed to be self-paced, but now they have it set to the pace they want them to learn, which slows them down significantly. My daughter has 5 credits left. It will take 4 to 5 months now to finish due to this slowdown. They claim that it is to help them retain the information and not move so fast. They can care less about what they retain. It's about the money. Who are they to tell me what my child can and can't retain at this or that pace? My daughter had a class on Monday and was told she can't get back in the class until Friday because she did enough steps. The nerve of these people.
We appreciate your feed back, Ruqayyah. It is wonderful to hear that your student has had a successful education journey. We have noticed a growing trend of students attempting to complete an entire school year's worth of coursework in as little as three weeks. For this reason, pacing limits were adjusted in some of our courses. We're sorry to hear that you have had trouble getting in touch with our Support Team via email. Ease of use. Technical support was great
Accellus just changed their amount of steps you can take each week. It was 40 and now its 28 for ELA and less for other subjects. While I do believe they did it for the right reasons, they made it where my 13 year old daughter now can't finish before her 8th grade school year starts. They did it for their accreditation and they can care less about the actual kids. No notification just changed the rules in the middle of her trying to complete 7th grade. Completely legal and meets their terms and conditions, but my daughter is getting getting royals hung out to dry. She had a 2.5 week buffer and now won't finish until weeks after her school year starts. Just be aware that they can change their rules whenever they want and they won't give you a heads up or any written notice.
We appreciate your feedback, Brandon, and we're sorry to hear that your student is behind schedule. We love the enthusiasm so many students bring to their Acellus coursework, and we never want to slow down a motivated learner. But we've noticed a growing trend of students attempting to complete four or more weeks of material in a single week. For this reason, we made adjustments to the pacing limits in some of our courses. Please feel welcome to get in touch with our support team (866-684-6127) if we can provide any assistance. We appreciate having your student enrolled!
Great easy to accessibility
Thank you for your feedback, Betty! We recently launched a monthly publication called the Acellus Journal to help keep families in the loop on updates and new initiatives. We would love to hear your feedback!
…excellent
Thank you for your review!
My teenagers were enrolled at this school for one week to take a course that they were short, so they could enroll in college in the Fall. I was told when I enrolled them that this was a self-paced course, so they would be able to finish in plenty of time for enrollment in college August 1st. They enrolled under the scholarship, and the requirement to keep the scholarship was that they have to watch a live stream every Wednesday night at 7PM. Wednesday rolls around, and the live stream has a message at the bottom of the screen saying it had been canceled for that night and moved to Saturday... July 4th and our nation's 250th birthday. We rearranged our plans on the 4th, so they would be back in time for the live stream. It was basically a talent show for kindergarteners celebrating the 4th. My kids are 18 and 19. I left a comment on the live saying I thought it was inconsiderate that they were made to watch this on a National holiday (our nation's 250th birthday at that) and that we weren't able to take part in some of our community's activities because of the time that it started and ended. I said they should be ashamed for making kids watch this on a day they should be spending with their family and friends. That's it. That's all I said. Last I checked, this is America, and we have the First Amendment. My kids watched the entire irritating live stream, so they could keep the scholarship. Monday rolls around, and I receive a phone call from the owner of the school), who tells me my comment was "abusive to him." First of all, I never said his name in my comment. I had an opinion about them having it on a national holiday. He tried to tell me that students could watch the live stream any time during the week. That is not what we were told, and I have that in writing. I tried to explain that to him, and he kept raising his voice and talking over me. He told me he was not going to give my kids a scholarship any longer, so I could pay $249/child/month or not take the course. He didn't listen to me, give me a chance to explain and prove what I was saying, nothing... all because I thought his planning of the stream was inconsiderate. Mind you, he hurt my children (because obviously I can't afford the $249/mo each and needed the scholarship) because I had an opinion on something that he didn't like. My kids asked if they could call him back and tell him that they were told they had to watch it on Saturday... which of course they got mad the second they heard his voice and told him about himself because he accused their mother of abusing him and for being petty and keeping them from getting the credit they need to enroll in college... which I regret, but I can't blame them either. They are 18 and 19, and I can't control what they say. I can, however, tell you the truth: the man who owns this school does not truly care about your kids, and if you dare have an opinion he doesn't like... he will hurt your kids without batting an eye. Just because someone has a different opinion than yours about scheduling and tells you that you should be ashamed for taking kids away from their families on a national holiday does not mean they are abusing you.
Thank you for your feedback, Jamie. We are sorry to hear that Acellus wasn't a fit for your family. From reviewing your account, it appears that a full refund was provided. We wish you all the best in finding a program that meets your needs.
Great experience and my child loves it so much!
