Data Engineer Academy has been an incredible experience. I tried learning data on my own but had no idea where to begin. The coaches give you a clear roadmap, guide you through every roadblock, and provide the support and motivation you need, especially on the days when it feels overwhelming. I was honestly scared to start, worried it would be too much. But my coaches consistently checked in, reassured me, and made sure I never felt alone in the process. Their encouragement has made all the difference. The Academy also prepares you for interviews and helps you truly believe that a career in data engineering is within reach.

Best bang for your buck

The DE Academy has been a great experience thus far and I'd highly recommend it to anyone on the fence about taking the next big step in their career. Before joining DEA, I had been working entry-level roles in data analysis after graduating university with a math and statistics degree. My current role is as a Data Specialist for a financial services firm, where I've been primarily performing data management duties while being the go-to person exporting and cleaning Excel reports across our firm's platforms. While the role has been a great way to get my feet wet in the data sphere, I believe my university education hasn't been well utilized in my current role, and I've since been looking for an opportunity to take the next step in my career. With the present-day challenges in the current job market spanning from ATS systems denying qualified candidates for roles they should be getting hired for to AI and ghost jobs dominating the hiring sphere, it's been really daunting to go about the job search alone. My experience, while valuable, also doesn't directly meet the current expectations for candidates in these mid- to senior-level data roles, making it that much harder for me to find a new job. This is exactly where DEA shines. The Academy has taken me in, assessed my current skills and knowledge, and tailored a customized curriculum for me to upskill my data skills while providing a slew of experienced data engineering and data science professionals at my fingertips. While working through my plan, I have access to a network of professionals ready to answer any questions I have, building my knowledge outside of my lessons and practice problems, as well as giving me the confidence and reassurance to know that I'm not alone in this journey. What really sold me about DEA was their money-back guarantee that they could get me into 20 interviews within the first 6 months of my time at DEA. That level of confidence in producing well-equipped and ready data professionals, regardless of their background, really sold me on the Academy. If you're still on the fence about joining, just know that I was too. But I promise you, if you really want to make the next big step in your career, the DEA is a great resource to do so. I'm so glad I pushed myself to do it.

I've participated in several of the Q&A - All Subjects/SQL meetings with Om. I have to say, every meeting has been productive, very informative. The meeting atmosphere has always been open and very encouraging for student participation. Om does a fantastic job answering questions with relatable examples. Om's fantastic!

Tailored individually

This is self paced and tailored for the individual filling the gaps. You will be paired with a success manager, who checks on your progress regularly and nudges you in the right direction. I’m fortunate to have Monisha as my success manager and gives me the support and guidance where needed. Overall feeling good and confident I’m in the right direct in this market.

My onboarding process went smoothly and I was provided with a very detailed roadmap for my progress through my very tailored course. Starting the course and getting through modules has also been very smooth with lots of support available throughout the process. I also have regular 1on1 meetings with my specialist and overall I'm really impressed with the service, support and my progress so far. Keep it up DEA!

Success Coach - Ryan O.

I left one review regarding the DE Academy. But, I wanted to follow up and write a review regarding a particular staff member, my Success Coach Ryan O. He has been awesome! I meet with him every few weeks. He gives me certain action items that I need to focus on and overwhelmingly has offered to help, and has pointed me to many, many resources available from the Academy to help. I’ve been working through learning SQL. Going through the lessons, the problems/questions, and now the interview questions/problems. It’s…definitely been a challenge. I’m a career changer and have used other programs and am a little familiar with Python. But, SQL I’ve never used before this program. I’m working on preparing for the Advanced SQL Mock Interview. I expect to be ready for that within the next few weeks. I’ve gone from never using SQL to being prepared for interviews (at least with SQL)! Despite it being challenging, Ryan has helped me tremendously! I can’t say enough good things about him! He always took the time to learn about me, and where I was struggling. Then, provided me with praise and support, and the tools necessary to overcome those challenges. If you join the program and happen to get partnered up with Ryan, consider yourself lucky! He’s great!

Eureka! This program is precisely what I need to successfully pivot to an AI-centric career.

Roughly 90 days into the program and thrilled with the experience thus far. Curriculum is well-designed. Training modules are challenging at times, but very easy to consume. Tons of support available when completing assignments. Staff is both knowledgable and VERY responsive whenever help is needed. In addition to a team of SME's I have at my disposal, they assign you a Success Coach (Cristian is a Rock Star!). I had spent well over a year attempting to self tutor on Cloud architecture and AI through Coursera and a boat load of newsletter subscriptions. Was lacking direction in identifying and prioritizing which topics to tackle next. Felt like I was chasing my own tail in circles and not making any real progress. There were always additional pieces of tech that I would quesstion whether or not I should pursue, because I was unsure which ones were critical and which were irrelevant. I am enrolled in the TPM (Technical Project/Program Manager) track. They have a well-defined training pipeline laid out for me. So no more second-guessing what topic(s) to tackle next. EVEN MORE RESOURCES: They also provide job placement assistance, which was going to be major hurdle I would've faced without this program. There are resources for interview prep, including (I believe) mock interviews. The instructors have office hours available throughout the week for 1:1 tutoring and Q&A. As part of the curriculum, there are several hands-on capstone-style projects that are required of students. So, you come away with an actual project portfolio you can share with prospective employers -- which is a HUGE benefit in my case, as I am pivoting from a background in data storage & protection to data engineering skills specific to AI projects/environments.

Try Data Engineering Academy

Learning and working with Data Engineering Academy was the right choice. There are a lot of learning academies online but there is a huge difference with DEA. The coaches and instructors actually care about your progress and want to make sure you are getting everything you can out of the courses. Curriculum is extensive but completely doable, even without a tech background.
