We opened up the umbrella we bought a couple years ago and it was broken! It's only been used a handful of times and never in really bad weather so I was irritated. After contracting the company they replaced it under warranty.

Good umbrella

Great experience with receiving the umbrella in a timely manner, I was pleasantly surprised. I bought the mini and it will serve its purpose. You have to open manually, no button on the handle to open automatically like the bigger umbrellas. I wish it did, otherwise, all 5 stars. The circumference of the umbrella is only good for one person but that’s to be expected with a mini. My concern is that if anything happens and it doesn’t hold up to what is promised (i.e., sturdy), how do I return it and replace, as this is supposed to be guaranteed.

I bought the mini and a strut broke in…

I bought the mini and a strut broke in the first gust of wind. The warranty is for replacement, which is fine but basically it cost me another $16 for postage which I don't believe is in line with consumer law in Australia. So I don't recommend either their quality or their customer service but don't have the energy to fight about it.

Can recommend the Davek parasol 100%

Can recommend the Davek parasol 100%. Just completed a 400km / 18 day stretch of the Camino in France (Chemin de St Jacques) in a heatwave with record temperatures. Obviously walking early avoiding heat/sun where possible, but everyday there were times when using the parasol became vital for my wife. Its SPF50 spec was a lifesaver, its construction tough & durable - yet extremely lightweight to carry and reduced in size to fit perfectly into my backpack when not needed. It also comes in great colours (ours lavender) - looks great in photos! Extremely pleased with this product. Would trust any product from Davek based on my experience. Thank you.

Break too often

I have the Solo, and have now returned two for replacement in 4 years. In the first the mechanism for folding it down broke, and in the second a carbon-fibre strut broke. Replacement is not an issue as Davek does the right thing, but the first cost me $16 for postage (Davek paid one-way for the first replacement), and the second $32 (return postage). My concern is that I don't use an umbrella a great deal (maybe 6 times a year: we don't get that much rain!) and they seem to be far from "the last umbrella I will ever buy". I have certainly not "said goodbye to broken umbrellas and redundant buying" as per the advertising! If this 4 year cycle continues my postage costs will be more than it would cost me to simply replace a cheaper umbrella every few years.

Fantastic umbrella

After plenty of research, I decided to buy the Davek Elite and couldn't be happier. Yes, it's expensive for an umbrella, but the moment I opened the box I knew where the money had gone. The build quality is outstanding, and every time I open it, it just feels beautifully made. I haven't even had the chance to use it in the rain yet, but I already feel I've got my money's worth simply from owning it. It's rare these days to buy something that genuinely exceeds your expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending the Davek Elite to anyone who appreciates quality craftsmanship. A real deal fashion accessory too. Delivery time as promised.

It wasn’t easily opened. Need automatic open and closure. Umbrella was very crumbled after opening it.
