I cannot be more grateful for the progress and change I have seen in my dog Harper. After working with Cal the reactivity he demonstrated is so much less that walking him is a dream compared to before. Cal spent time with us upon drop off working on tools to help with his behavior. Since Harper has been back he has done so well on walks that we are know both looking forward to them. We can’t thank Cal enough!
I searched online and spoke to many puppy trainers before choosing Dogwise Academy. They were extremely courteous, knowledgeable, and quick to respond to my queries. The trainer, Eddie, was excellent. He picked up our puppy and spent 3 weeks with him. We got numerous updates on his progress. When he came back to us he was changed so much for the better. Was not traumatized at all like I’ve had we previous trainers for my other dogs. I highly recommend Dogwise Academy and will use them for our next puppy.
My dog Nico came back a whole new dog thanks to Mike and Dogwise academy it was such a great experience working with Mike and Sara they are naturally gifted people, Mike took the time to carefully review training with me and my sister and was very patient.. which made my family and I very happy, I got daily updates on my pup’s training and from day one we saw a change , would be definitely sending my new pup off with Mike and Sara again in the future , thank you so much !!
Dogwise Academy connected us to Cal at South River k'9s to train our then 8 month old miniature Bernedoodle, Harper. Cal was communicative from the start, taking time to understand Harper’s personality and our goals. Throughout the program, he sent regular video updates that helped us follow Harper’s progress and learn the commands ourselves. Harper came back well-socialized and responsive to basic commands, and Cal offered a lot of clear guidance on how to maintain the training when he brought her back home. Five weeks later, Harper is still doing well and we're planning a few follow-up sessions with Cal. We’d recommend Cal to anyone looking for a solid foundation—for both the dog and the owners!
Rina is very knowledgeable and patient. She made sure to regularly send me pictures and videos of his progress and is great at coming up with a routine that will work around your schedule. They regularly check in to ensure your dog is doing well. He used to lose ot when he saw other dogs and people on walks, but now he keeps walking with minimal reaction.
We had an amazing experience with our puppy training! Our trainer Rina was incredibly knowledgeable and also genuinely passionate about working with dogs. Our puppy responded very well to her techniques and showed so much progress in two short weeks. Rina addressed all of our concerns (biting, crate training, potty training, leash pulling and more). Rina sent videos and updates throughout our puppy’s stay which we appreciated greatly and you could tell our puppy was very happy to be there and having a great time. Rina spent almost 2 hours with us at drop off and helped us with learning all the commands to ensure we keep up with the training. This was a great experience and would definitely recommend Rina and Dog Wise Academy!
Rina was amazing in working with our 2 dogs and getting them trained on the basic commands. The dogs bonded with her and it appeared that they easily adapted to her training style. It was great to see the videos that were provided while they were in training to see their progress. Rina added comments on what they were being trained on. The weekly updates were very helpful in seeing their progression throughout the training. We would highly recommend Dogwise Academy.

Cal was hands down one of the best trainers I have experienced and had the pleasure of entrusting Ghost, my Malinois with. He was extremely knowledgeable, super friendly and made a night and day difference with my hyperactive baby, especially correcting wrongs that a previous trainer had instilled on her. Definitely will be working with Cal exclusively in the future and creating an awesome relationship with him and his dogs to further train my dog, as well as myself as a parent. Can not express how good Cal was!

My 10 month old mini dachshund Teddy spent 3 weeks with Trainer Rina. Our biggest concern was potty training and crate training. We were constantly cleaning up his accidents everywhere in the house. We believed investing in our puppy by sending him for training would help us to enjoy our newest family member for years to come. So off to bootcamp he went, and after 3 weeks, Rina had him crate trained, potty trained, socialized, and an enjoyable pet to have in our home. I learned I was not doing things correctly, and Rina gave me to tools to help with that. It was a lot of money to send him away for 3 weeks, but it was well worth it once we got our Teddy back and saw such huge improvements. Thank you Rina for restoring peace in our home! We really are grateful for all your hard work.

I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to train their dog. I’ve seen so much improvement! Before, my dog would be crazy going out, but now he is very obedient! Each week, I’ve noticed progress from my dog through the videos Rina sent. I feel more confident and comfortable with taking my dog out in public spaces!

My trainer was Cal. My 7 year old Newfiedoodle needed a serious obedience refresher. Cal was patient and calm with Tucker who can be very headstrong. Tucker remastered all of his commands and is much better behaved and is listening now. The hand off was smooth and Cal kept in close touch. He sent daily videos of Tucker and explained all of the techniques he was using. Tucker seemed to really enjoy his boarding. Cal stopped by today to make sure that I was properly reinforcing Tucker's training. I would give him 100 stars if I could. Great guy, great training. Tucker was really happy to greet him today.

Start to finish. Process was easy, pick up was on time, drop off and walk through of what took place was spot on. Cal was professional at all times, videos arrived daily along with updated progress reports. Overall very pleased. I would recommend Cal to anybody in need of a serious first class dog trainer.

Theresa was awesome! She is a very strong communicator and went out of her way to go above and beyond to make sure my Kreed succeeded. My dog was a mess when she got him, and came back a whole new dog. He was very well mannered and learned lots of commands.She sent me updates and videos daily and I can see the progress Kreed was making in each one. When she dropped him off, I could see the bond that they had created in just 2 weeks, that insured me that my dog was loved and well taken care of. I would highly recommend/demand Theresa be your selection when choosing a trainer.

Puppy training for my Vizsla was the best thing I could have done for my pup and I. Cal worked with Tutto in a patient and positive way and sent me videos daily so I would know what to do when Tutto came home. He learned to sit and place and best of all mastered loose leash walking so we can take long energy burning walks safely and without fear. Tutto came home happy and well mannered. Cal worked with me on the drop off for a couple of hours to make sure I was trained to enable Tutto to continue to benefit from his training and keep learning. Amazing work from Cal and I highly recommend him for his temperament, patience and positive training techniques. And he’s a super nice guy - he took my calls and texts the first week to continue to support Tutto and OI. Above and beyond expectations! If you’re on the fence about training away, do it with Cal and you will have no regrets!
