I really enjoyed building this project
I really enjoyed building this project. It is my first build. I did a bit of upgrading to suit my own tastes. It went together nicely and may be the best guitar I have played. I can’t hardly quit playing every time I pick it up. Neck was straight and since it was a glue on I was surprised it needed no adjustment. I would do another from GKW.

E75 kit building
I bought a E75 kit and It is a stunning kit for the price!
It hasn´t been super easy to build for me, but because of my fancy mods and the fact I don´t have a proper workshop with all the necessary tools. It needs some luthier work to do also to set up the frets, position and setup the bridge etc., but it is something you would expect to do. the quality of the veneer and the wood are really good, they absorb the color nicely and look solid. if there was also a piece of binding across the horn as the similar well know guitar have, it would have been just perfect, but never mind. I haven´t used the pickups and electronic of the kit, so I can´t judge how good they are. With the pickups I used, the sound of this guitar is just phenomenal!

This isn't just a "wallhanger"....update after several years !!
Winning the kit and choosing from their catalog was hardest part. I settled on a bound ST ash kit. I had really wanted a PRS type with trem but they were out. I understand why. That's a popular look. Upon receiving my kit I was blown away by the detail and attention to the neck pocket and neck. Could not fit any more snug. I think in my review video I picked it up by the neck. Without installing the plate and screws hahah.Im still a bit in wonder of the fret material but no wear after 3 years so maybe Evo fret not for sure. Ebony fretboard material being man made like Gibson and others use has not been a bit of issue. Looks and feels amazing. I made the guitar out to be project and possibly something to keep on a stand but NO. THIS was a player. I mean it is. After 3 years , even while I didn't do the best work in staining it it came out really cool and the work isn't at all difficult. Take it slow and be sure you know the veneer needs extremely little stain or it will bubble. I didn't care. Added some character to it during the debate of relic last 10 years I figure that is my using it heavily showing some nice wear... but since I added light poly too it's not gotten any more wear. I promise I'll work on that. The guitar plays well out of the box and even after a minor set up the cheap but working trem use I still stay in tune. Maybe it's the bone nut??? I absolutely do stand firm on my review of the ash bound ST NOT A WALL HANGER guitar. It gets played often and once day I'll hit them up for a PRS and LP style. So get off the fence. You don't have to spend a ton to get quality with GKW!!!!

Telecaster kit
I purchased and assembled my Tele kit 3.5 years ago. Enjoyed building the guitar, and have really enjoyed playing it. Has become one of my favorite guitars. A few months ago I ordered an l2 baritone kit. Given the price of the kit the price/quality ratio deserves 5 stars. Within a few days after ordering I received an email from Chinese posting that the shipment was not ok; 1 email to GKW and the matter was solved, 5 stars for that as well. Workmanship on wood was decent, the neck was a perfect fit and everything was in good shape. Included hardware and pickups were not the best quality, but that is to be expected at this price. Electronics on this guitar can be challenging for first time builders because of the body construction, but the GKW website already mentioned it’s not the easiest build, so no disappointment ther either. I’m looking forward to my next build.

I couldn’t be happier with this guitar…super light weight!
Single humbucker Jazz Box - I couldn’t be happier with this guitar kit. Everything arrived well packed, the parts were high quality, and the instructions were easy to follow (download from site)The build process was actually a lot of fun, and the finished guitar came out far better than I expected.
The neck fit perfectly, the hardware was solid, and once it was set up, the guitar played and sounded fantastic. I’ve owned factory-built guitars that didn’t feel this good. It’s incredibly satisfying to play something you built yourself, and this kit made that possible without a lot of frustration.
If you’re thinking about building your first guitar, I highly recommend this kit. Great value, great experience, and an excellent final product. I’ll definitely be ordering another one in the future.

Loved this kit
Loved this kit. The mahogany body was even more beautiful than the first kit, and the maple veneer had no flaws. After seeing how the color came out, I decided to go with a chrome / cream scheme on the hardware, so I replaced all of that -- not the kit's fault. Super fun build.

Last September I received my LP style…
Last September I received my LP style guitar and right from the moment I opened the box I was impressed and delighted. I build wooden acoustic instruments; violins, ukuleles, guitars and even a harp. I also work at a wooden boat building school with a fabulous collection of tools, both power and hand tools. This being my very first electric guitar build I am happy to report that the only tools required for this job were sandpaper, a soldering iron, a wrench, and a small screwdriver.
The neck fit into the milled pocket absolutely perfectly. The mahogany body was slightly figured on the backside and the quilted maple veneer on the front was jaw droppingly beautiful. So, naturally I brought out the figure with light sanding and lots of elbow grease by applying an oil varnish like I would on a violin. The neck has an ebony fingerboard and the frets were well seated. Having said that I did refine the fret work with some crowning and buffing, but only because I am OCD. The only difficulty came with soldering the pots and jack. I replaced the pots that came with the kit for a set from StewMac which I would highly recommend. My difficulty arose only from my lack of experience. The only soldering I had under my belt prior to this build was from household plumbing. In closing, I can report that the mahogany body, the maple neck, and the quilted maple veneer top are excellent and the millwork was flawless. I can recommend this kit and company without reservation.

Chameleon Green LP Style Build
Stellar building experience, the only thing stopping me from building another is my budget 😆. The wood quality itself was fantastic, and the machining was excellent. The hardware was solid for a kit guitar, but I swapped out the tuners for some D’Addario locking tuners and I replaced the pickups with EMG active 81/85 humbuckers. I painted mine with a color shifting chameleon paint from Specialist Paints (Chromacoat Green over a black base with 2k clear coat), and the only thing keeping this guitar from being perfect is my poor luthiering skills 😂. I did manage to get the action pretty low though. Slapped on some Ernie Heavy Bottom Skinny Top strings (I play everything from standard tuning to drop A#) and it plays like butter. If you’re thinking about a purchase, just do it. It’s so memorable and I loved both the experience and the end result.

My guitar kit was a 7 string hollow…
My guitar kit was a 7 string hollow body. You might say that I leapt before I looked, as I had never built a kit before. It was a very educational experience. The one area that was problematic was the wiring, which was slightly different from the online diagrams. I finally pulled up other diagrams and then experimented to figure out where some of the connections needed to be. The experiment involved plugging the guitar up to an amp and running test leads to different possible contacts, then popping the pickups with a screwdriver to see what worked and what didn't. At the time I was a little afraid of doing this but looking at it now, with only passive voltage, there was probably no way I could have gone wrong. As mentioned, I did have several good wiring diagrams. They mostly agreed, sort of theme and variation. It's been a while but I think the biggest issue was that there was a second wire from the pickup that was not in some of the diagrams. All in all, very educational. Particularly as my biggest interest was in the architecture of how a guitar came together. I am seriously considering a second GKW kit.

It was my first time building a guitar
It was my first time building a guitar. The kit was very well made with a very tight neck joint. The neck was also very well made with polished frets. The electronics were easy to run with all the connections already soldered. The body was very nice and just needed minimal sanding before finishing. The guitar looks great and sounds great. The price was very good for the quality of the guitar.

Swamp beast L/P Jr
I purchased a spalted top Les Paul jr from these guys. My goal was to make it look like it was found in the swamp . I relic’d the hardware and stained it accordingly. Paired up with an upgraded wiring set up with 500k pots. With a slight overdrive, it can go from beautiful cleans to all out growl and crunch with the help of an upgraded Gibson dog ear P90. It’s my go-to weapon of choice. Highly recommend this build if you’re thinking about it.

An overall review
The packaging and presentation of the guitar was excellent.
The videos re assembly were helpful but were incomplete in the entire process. When I asked a specific question regarding apart the answer wasn't always available.
My piezo pickup wasn't working correctly so I bought a new pickup myself. Maybe it would have been replaced but I didn't want to wait for the turn around time.
The process was as expected. If you want to have the full process then buy it, however I think I have a better guitar in an earlier one I bought online for the same money
