Money grab service
I was excited to use lingopie, and I made an account. I started with a 7 day free trial and willing to pay for an annual subscription if I liked it. Unfortunately I didn't find any media that I would enjoy watching in order to utilize the service so I cancelled it. They then charged me the year subscription after the 7 day trial, even though I had cancelled it. I should have been more suspicious that I never received a confirmation email. I contacted them to try and get a refund, the "best" they could do was change my subscription to a monthly one and refund the difference of what I paid to cover the first month. I didn't think this was fair as I did not even use the service in any way, other than browse their catalog. They refused to give the full refund because of their policy, but could not justify their policy to me. I figured I would just eat the 14$. Then I find my card was charged for another months' fee. I check the lingopie account and it's still active! I had to cancel again! And I again I do not get a cancellation confirmation. I decided to charge back my card because their customer service doesn't understand common sense, and will blindly follow their policy for financial greed. Do not give them your credit card. They will continue to charge you even though youve cancelled the service.

I love this app and site. I am already studying spanish formally and having music and videos available to watch has been a great way to reinforce what I am learning.

Absolutely brilliant
Absolutely brilliant. There are loads of different programmes to watch and learn, quizzes to help with vocabulary and so much more. There's no pressure so I can go at my own pace and makes it fun. I'm learning Spanish at the moment as my 5 year old granddaughter is learning it at school as well, but once I'm really familiar with the site, Korean and Mandarin are next!!!! I'm having a great time and am so impressed with Lingopie I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn another language.

SCAM they billed me for a lifetime plan…
SCAM they billed me for a lifetime plan that I did not ask for. And you get a laughable option of a partiel refund of 20% or switching to a yearly plan wich is barely cheaper than the lifetime plan. DO NOT use this app when there a free alternatives online

Multiple functions of slowing down the video, selecting words.. when you select a word, it shows you if it is a noun, adjective, verb and what is the infinitive form (which does not happen in other apps) and most importantly, you can save the vocabulary you want and then the app offers you multiple exercises of different type with which you can practice your vocab

really effective
really effective, easy to do long sessions – after all – part of the process of learning is just watching interesting shows.. the whole experience is well thought through .. everything on the site works, I honestly recommend it

Just signed up for Lingopie 10/10
Just signed up for Lingopie after spending 921 days of using Duolingo and navigating Duolingo's pathetic 'rewards'system. I know as much about German vocab' and structure as when I started. Even though I've just started using Lingopie, I can 'feel' that it appeals to my way of learning: Structured, informative and undertstandable. Lingopie brilliant!

Real language learning that works
Lingopie is probably the best language learning app I've used so far, as it utilizes media like movies and TV shows, as well as songs, to hold your attention and to teach you the target language through effective vocabulary lists, dialogue breakdowns, and a host of entertaining activities. I highly recommend it for anyone tired of Duolingo or other apps that don't employ this novel system.

PLEASE do not trust the fake reviews or seemingly caring replies here on Trustpilot. Like many others, I decided the app was not for me and tried cancelling after the free trial. They charged me $83.88 anyway. Life got busy, experienced some challenges and didn’t contact them or file a dispute. Lo and behold, they charged me again this year! I emailed them already to ask for cancellation, on good faith that I’d try it again once I have more time. I have not used the service, told them as much. They would not refund me and kept redirecting me to other subscriptions. If you look online, lots of people have this exact experience. It’s a revenue tactic for them. When I replied to the service rep, Jeffy, that I wasn’t interested at this time and want a full refund for the service I haven’t used at all, and stated that I wanted to resolve with them and not have to file a dispute, I got radio silence. Please be careful and research this company first and be sure if you don’t want to be on the hook for recurring expensive charges on a service you aren’t using! Even trying it out through the trial will keep you on their billing list.

Fantastic resource, well worth subscribing to
Overall, LingoPie has been the best resource for learning Chinese I've encountered. The selection of media is wide and varied. I will say that the English subtitles, which are AI generated I assume, can be lacking at times, but I try never to use them anyway. Sometimes the testing features are clunky (ex: it thinks a pair of words is a phrase, but they aren't), again likely due to AI, but this is a small issue. Ultimately, this is the best online resource you can invest in for learning a language.

Amazing!
I just got this and already I watched a tv show episode and was engaged with the story and was clicking on Spanish words already and learning. Then I found Spanish 101 lessons that teaches byte size lessons. Already better than anything I have tried before. If you like watching tv or just video lessons. this will work for you.
