Experiences the local community

I get to talk to local families and play the children. God was talking to me while praying with one of the family, their gratefulness on the midst of difficulties touches my heart

Guatemala Mission Trip (July 5-11)

I had a great time in Guatemala! At first, I was excited at the opportunity to travel to another country and experience another culture as well as buying souvenirs. However, I soon learned that mission trips weren't just about traveling and volunteering, but also learning to grow even more in one's faith by helping others learn about God. The God Sightings that we did every night was new to me, and I was kind of in disbelief that people took an ordinary moment and were like, "yeah, that was God". I would've just thought it was coincidence, but they taught me that I need to listen to God more in my life so I can see all the little details of how he works in my life.

Mission Discovery is glorifying God WELL

Mission Discovery is an amazing organization that you can just see how God’s hand is working and guiding it all. As a youth leader, I felt properly equipped to tend the worksite at hand (even though I have no carpentry skills at all) and I felt beyond cared for to prepare for the next day of service. They are so intentional, detailed and compassionate. Thank you for obeying Christ and for all you did, Mission Discovery… our mission trip changed lives and you played a huge part in that!

My students had an amazing week

My students had an amazing week! They loved the projects they worked on, they were excited to pray with the people they served, and the accomodations were some of the best we've ever had on a mission trip. Definitely will be working with Mission Discovery again.

The staff was great and always checking in on us at the worksites to make sure we didn’t need anything. Seeing how much of an impact we were making on the lives of the people we were for made the long drive out there and back completely worth it.

Guatemala 2026 mission trip review

Everyone was very welcoming not only with hospitality and stuff but also with the aspect of being brothers and sisters in Christ. I also enjoyed worship every night especially with jimmy leading us.

My trip to Guatemala was life-changing

My trip to Guatemala was life-changing! It gave me a new perspective on life and the workings of God in all His goodness. It reminded me in a very real way that happiness and joy are real and unrelated to things of this world. We are all the same, even if our language is different. We have the same hopes, dreams, and desires for our families. We are truly all created in the image of our Creator.

Serving Bluefield

We served in Bluefield and had another amazing week coordinating our youth mission team with Mission Discovery's team. The team had transparency in communication, was organized, and highly-engaged. Great experience!

The experience was great

The experience was great. Leaders were great. I wish they would have required the other crew to follow the rules better but otherwise it was a great trip!!

Working with Mission Discovery is the highlight of my summers!! Our trip last week to Bluefield was, by far, my favorite. The Mission Discovery crew was wonderful to work with; they truly have huge hearts for Jesus, worked so well with our youth team, and you can tell that they have a great passion for helping and connecting with those in the community. I can't recommend serving with Mission Discovery enough...they have been a HUGE blessing for our youth group and to my family! Now, the countdown is on for Puerto Rico!!

The mission discovery teams are spirit field, and mission focused

The mission discovery teams are outstanding. Things were organized. Scott was a delight to work with as were there others. The third at the college was good. The church was welcoming, and God was present.

My Eye Affected my Heart

Good morning. As I sit and reflect on last week, much comes to my mind and heart. This was the first time my husband and I have taken a mission trip outside of the US. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had been in earnest prayer that my “eye would effect my heart,” and it did. The Guatemalan people are precious. From those preparing our meals each day, the bus drivers, the ones seen in the clinic, the school, and those in their homes, they were most warm and welcoming. Serving alongside the Appalachian Christian School was a blessing. Our hearts were immediately connected, and they will forever be in my heart. Mission Discovery does an amazing job making their guest feel as comfortable as possible. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with Nathan. He is most welcoming and his heart for missions is incredibly evident. Each conversation felt heard and validated. We look forward to his visit to West Texas. With the positivity, comes one bit of constructive criticism. I felt a disconnect with Michael, the project coordinator. I had hoped for the same kind of discussion with him as with Nathan. His mind seemed to be elsewhere, and I honestly feel we connected more with Kenny, the worship leader. Another idea my husband and I had was to include an evening worship session with the public. For every person we met, we offered the gospel and prayer. I believe based upon their response in that setting; they would be open to an actual worship service. When serving them daily, a simple invitation could be given to include the address to where the service would be held. May God continue to bless Mission Discovery, and may many lives be touched through those whom God has given the opportunity to serve. God Bless.
