As a relatively new homeowner with…

As a relatively new homeowner with limited experience in home renovations, I was nervous about tackling the design of new porch railings. Working with Muzata turned what could have been an overwhelming project into a genuinely positive experience. Their customer support is truly outstanding. The team was incredibly patient as I worked through several changes to my railing design, always responding promptly and offering clear, helpful guidance. At no point did I feel rushed or pressured—they made sure I was confident in every decision before moving forward. The product itself is high quality, with a solid, durable feel that immediately stood out once everything arrived. Even better, my installer commented on how easy the system was to work with, noting that the components were well engineered and straightforward to install. Overall, Muzata exceeded my expectations in every way. For anyone looking for reliable customer service paired with an excellent product, I can’t recommend them highly enough.

A beautiful railing that protected our gorgeous views . . .

We installed a Muzata railing this summer around our pool area. We worked with Peggy in customer service and what an amazing experience. From start to finish the process was seamless. Design was so helpful, we got exactly what we needed and when we updated our plan, return was easy, AND patient as we worked to get things back in. The railing is beautiful - exactly - wait - better than we could have ever imagined.

Great customer service and product

I'm an estimator for a General Contractor. We fabricate our brushed stainless handrails in house but use Muzata components for the cable system. Brandon is my go to guy for all of my technical drawing details. I've done two projects with him so far and they both went well. As we water jet our components before fabrication having all of the correct dimensioning is key to success. Brandon always gets me the technical drawings of the components in a timely fashion and if he doesn't have the drawings he will put a set of calipers on the actual product. He's in Hong Kong and I'm in Montana USA and I've never had poor communication between us. There are other good products out there but I use theirs because of the customer support.

Great product when finished

Great product when finished. As others have stated, directions are a little hard to understand, but keep them handy. If the rail base holes do not hit the frame of the patio, get smaller lag nuts and washers for a tight screw fit. If your patio is older and a bit uneven, buy washers to level the base of the rail post. When cutting rails, put painters tape on rail!!, mark holes and drill with vegetable oil for sure. I stopped using the drill bit for holes and just used the tap, it works better IMO. Drill slowly! If your drill hole is off just a bit, which will happen, the screw will not go in, it's not like wood. Use the drill bit when rail is in place to open the hole just a bit. The bands included are to hold rail in place for marking holes and attaching rail. Use the rubber grommets all the way round, so much better that the washers and sticky things. If you buy a gate, make sure you have a good set of allen wrenches, the one that has them all together like a swiss army knife, the 4MM that comes with it is useless. When you install a gate, don't go by the measurements to attach in the instructions, they are off by about a 1/4 inch. I used wood blocks to get the exact height i needed, then made my drill marks. Painters tape again. And same for adding the latch enclosure. I cut all my cable at once for each section and attached the end pieces, then installed. Put a zip tie on roll of cable to keep it from turning into a spider web, tighten as needed to keep spool in place. File the inside of rails after cutting, end caps go on easier. If rail butts up to a wall, install end cap before attaching rail. It's time consuming, take your time, find a friend if you can. Customer service is awesome. Thanks Maxine!! Price point great.

The entire experience was very labor…

The entire experience was very labor intensive and difficult. There is much improvement needed and so I sent a letter to the engineer explaining the main issues. Overall I lost close to $4000 in labor cost that I could not transfer to the client. I just chalked it up to a leaning experience. As a contractor of more 45 years this was my first cable rail project. Most of the jurisdictions I work in don’t allow this type of rail because of the child safety concerns, but it is becoming more popular so I’m sure I will be dealing with it in the future.

Reply from Muzata2025-11-13

Hi James, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize for the challenges and extra labor you experienced during the lighting installation — we understand how demanding that must have been. Our lighting handrails are compatible with most LED strips under 5/8" wide, including Philips Hue and most 2835/5050 models, though some adjustments may be needed depending on the installation environment. We truly respect your 45 years of contracting experience and appreciate the professional insights you’ve shared. Your feedback has been passed to our engineering team to help improve our product design and installation guidance. Thank you again for your patience and understanding. We hope to work with you again under better circumstances. Warm regards, Yuki Muzata Customer Support

Beautiful lighted railing install

I found the overall experience to be very good. The design service was top-notch and the associated order included all the items needed for a successful project. The materials were very high quality. The issues I had: the instructions took a while to figure out, the design lacked sufficient detail in a critical area (dog leg at top of stairs), and there were no instructions for how to run wiring for the railing lights.

Very pleased with the quality of the materials and the completeness of the materials supplied. Using the free design service, I was able to get every detail needed in a single order. The instructions are easy to follow. I was able to get very clean cuts using a metal bladed steel cutting saw (did not like the results using a fiber blade). I would recommend this system.

The Quality of communication, service, and products

The entire experience with Muzata was astounding superb. I followed their instructions as to submitting drawings, sketches, and photographs, and in just a matter of one day, they sent me detailed drawings of my project...for FREE. There were a couple items that I questioned them on, but again, I had an immediate answer. Case in point: my project was only 2 sides totaling 17 feet. They specified I would need 4 railing sections, each measuring 6'6". I querried them on why do I need a 4th railing section, since 3 should easily be enough. Immediate answer-- the rail sections must join on top of the posts. But aside from the design, shipment, and reasonable price, the Crown Jewell of Muzata has to be "Ms. Peggy", the customer service person that received all my emails. Peggy was so knowledgeable about this product line, and her email replies to my stupid questions were answered immediately...without making me feel stupid. I submitted what I thought was a valid suggestion concerning the crimping tool and the tensioner barrels. She heard my complaint/suggestion and told me she would submit it to the proper folks to consider. That made me feel like I was part of the team for a better result. Go Peggy! Hope I can steer more folks your way.

Cables Loosening - Installation and Manufacturing Solution

Overall, the quality of materials met our standard. However, there are several items that led to a less than stellar experience. Over the course of stringing the railing wires, the wires would frequently loosen themselves to a great degree, even when following the instructions to the letter. Tightening on one side would result in the other spinning out, and the cables would loosen overnight or an even shorter period of time. We were using softer wood, yellow pine and cedar, and the tap is not needed to insert the screw end of the table. Even without pre-tapping the insert holes, the cables would still loosen. Tried using gorilla glue to hold the screw ends in place, still no luck. Ended up having to use construction adhesive, manually squeezed in every hole, to prevent the screw ends from backing out and the cable from loosening. The learning process was arduous and made installation quite difficult. Obviously, the cables cannot be too loose for safety reasons, so we could not accept their less than tight condition. It is of my opinion that the thread pitch on the screw inserts is not aggressive enough, allowing the tension of the table to pull the screw out of the hole until the tension is released. We literally watched the screws pull themselves out in front of our eyes. A more aggressive pitch would alleviate this problem, as the there simply isn't enough friction between the wood and the metal with the current thread size and pitch to prevent the screw inserts from loosening themselves, in our case, particularly in softer wood. Wanted to make sure you were aware of this and inquire whether others had experienced this issue.

Reply from Muzata2025-11-06

Dear Craig, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate the effort you put into describing your installation experience and the challenges you faced. We’re very sorry to hear about the difficulties with cable loosening during your project. Your insights regarding the thread engagement and the performance in softer woods like yellow pine and cedar are extremely valuable. We’ve shared your feedback with our engineering team so they can further evaluate the thread design and explore potential improvements to ensure better compatibility across different wood types. Although this issue is quite rare — only a few similar cases have been reported over the past several years — we understand how frustrating this must have been, especially after following the instructions so carefully. We deeply appreciate your patience and persistence in finding a solution. If there’s anything else we can do to assist you, or if you’d like to discuss your project in more detail, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always here to help and continuously improve our products based on feedback like yours. Warm regards, Brandon Muzata Customer Support Team
