guilty plea from 1980s was shown in the county records that i searched, but the owner could not find this conviction. I understand that only 7 years of county data are searched by the software. The owner graciously agreed to search further back but apparently he could not find it. He left me a voice mail message about a civil case, but this was unrelted.

As we've already discussed, I also looked directly at the county records site, but was unable to find a reportable criminal record, only a civil case and a criminal record that was voided and thus can't be reported. With the information we have today we don't see any discrepancy between the country records site and what we're allowed to report under federal law, but I'm always happy to deep dive individual questions like this and happy to continue exploring this one if you wish! Started to sign up for an account but wasn't sure if this company provided services for my needs so I stopped. Somehow the owner got my information off his website even though I didn't complete the sign-up and decided to call me to see why I didn't finish signing up. It felt a bit creepy and invasive. I understand he may want to get more business and overcome client objections, but I never gave him permission to call me. Considering he has access to sensitive informational databases, calling me to find out why I stopped the sign-up process felt uncomfortable to me.

In case it's comforting to know, I only had your information because you shared your contact information with us in the first stage of your account registration. As discussed during our phone conversation, we're bound by federal law (the Fair Credit Reporting Act) and thus can't access any data without the subject's written consent. As you were looking to complete a check without the subject's consent, I hope the advice I shared about consumer-grade background check companies that aren't required to comply with the FCRA was helpful for your needs.
