What people say

If you get the prepcast, be sure to get the exam simulator too otherwise a workbook would be more effective

I liked that I was able to use the PrepCast for my 35 contact hours (and could listen at 1.5 speed). But in terms of study tools, it was the least effective one I employed. I also had access to the exam simulator and this was much more helpful, although based on the two full exams I took I would have failed (62% and 61%) when in reality on the test I was Above Target in each category (so maybe the simulator was more rigorous than the exam?). So overall, rating on both the podcast and the exam simulator, I would give three stars. Instead, I would guide people to use Rita Mulcahy's exam prep book. I used the 5th edition (which would seem old as I think the 10th is the most current now) and found it to be the most effective study tool in my arsenal.

Congratulations on passing your exam! Everyone takes a different approach to prepare for the PMP Exam, and we are glad you found what works for you. Some students prefer to watch or listen to video podcasts rather than use a book, so it depends on personal preference & learning styles. We are glad you could watch The PM PrepCast at your own pace (at 1.5 speed). Other students find that and other features, such as the ability to download & watch the lessons onto their device/mobile phone, very convenient. Anecdotally, our students have told us that the questions in The PM Exam Simulator™ are very close to what you will find on the real PMI exam. Sometimes, The PM Exam Simulator™ questions are more challenging than those on the real exam. This fact meets the simulator's vision and mission: to provide a tool that simulates the actual exam as closely as possible by going above and beyond what you need for the exam.

The PrepCast focusses too much on older versions of the PMBOKGuide. The information itself is useful, but not if you are wanting to focus on the PMBOK Guide 7th edition. It becomes rather confusing if you have to access older editions in order to understand it fully. This applies to the PMP Exam Simulator too. Most of the questions are based on information in earlier PMBOK Guides. It would be useful to have a filter to focus on the 7th edition only.

Thank you for your feedback. There is a common misconception that the PMP exam tests one's knowledge of the PMBOK Guide. Instead, the exam is based on the PMP Exam Content Outline (ECO), and the PMBOK Guide is only one of many reference books. That much said, based on feedback and lessons learned from those who passed their PMP exam, we can see that topics covered by the exam questions are a mix of the PMBOK Guide 6th and 7th Editions. The PMI has recently released Process Groups: A Practice Guide, which closely mirrors the PMBOK Guide 6th edition, i.e., PMBOK Guide 6th edition content is still relevant for exam preparation. Learn more about which PMBOK to use for the PMP Exam: https://www.project-management-prepcast.com/kunena/pmp-exam-discussion/12850-which-pmbok-for-pmp-exam-2022 The PM PrepCast training lessons and the PMP Exam Simulator are currently updated to correctly represent what you can reasonably expect to see on the actual exam. The PM PrepCast training course is based on and organized according to the current PMP ECO. We have lessons covering the PMBOK® Guide, including agile/hybrid concepts. We also use PMI Standards+, The Agile Practice Guide, and other books listed on the PMI website as references. As part of our continuous improvement efforts, we update the PMP Exam Simulator question content and their references as we gather additional feedback from our students. You have access to those improved/new questions at no extra cost for as long as your simulator subscription is active.

I liked the online presentations as they were engaging an emphasized the key areas of focus for a successful exam. The main area that truly helped me achieve success on the exam was the quizzes and practice exams in the exam simulator. The questions presented in the simulator were much harder than the actual exam, but they really helped you understand the nature of the questions and how to strategize arriving at the "best" answer for a given question.

My colleague recommended this prep course to me and it's been fantastic! I passed the PMP on the first try after using the material and exam simulators in this course.

Meh….

Lots of questions are nice, but they were not very close to the actual questions, and I did not agree with a lot of the answers when I was getting them wrong. Majority of the time I was failing the tests I took. Ended up reading the AR book, and getting that sim 1.5 months out and passed the test just fine.
