I had Will Giles as my college counselor, and I did early decision to Duke and got accepted! He supported me immensely through this process, answered my questions thoroughly, and was highly reliable. Besides this, he was also really personable and easy to talk to!
John effectively advised me for almost two years as I prepped for my b school apps. We got to know each other very well, and over the time spent, felt that he really cared me as a person, regardless of my MBA outcome. That being said, he played a role in helping me get into my top school (HBS)!
We used service from Solomon for all of my three children. We are extremely happy with Solomon. The consultants are great with great knowledge, top guidance, and very helpful. Specifically I have to mention the great help done by Olivia Han from Solomon. She guided my youngest daughter of her choice of college selection. She insisted the requirements to do for my daughter to apply for her reach school in the process. I definitely recommend Solomon if needed two extra steps to achieve the target.
Consultant: McKenna Rogan
I had an amazing experience with Solomon Consulting! McKenna was very responsive on email and always gave very useful information both regarding my essays and college admissions information in general. Under her guidance, I got into every UC that I applied to (Berkeley, LA, SD, SB, Davis, and Irvine) along with other top schools such as USC and UMich. I ultimately went to UC Berkeley for EECS.
Solomon Admissions Consulting has been an invaluable resource for us. They provided a roadmap and strategy beginning sophomore year to shape a high impact plan around my student's interests. Our consultant provided ongoing feedback on additional activities and responded to questions, promptly, as we they arose. When it was time to write application essays, it was seamless since the efforts of the past 3 years had been spent with a purpose and strategy. Having that plan helped my student make decisions on how to allocate time (his most precious resource) and avoid getting burned out in a hypercompetitive environment. It also allowed him to pursue his interests while still building a strong profile for college admissions.
Shelby Kendrick seriously changed my academic journey. I told her at the end of the program that I learned more from working with her than I had from all of my high school English classes in the process of how to learn about something you know nothing about, and then how to write about it in a way that is useful to the academic community. At the end of our program, I got my research published in the American Journal of Emerging Scholars, which you can review on their website to see the kind of work Shelby helped produce, my work is titled Echoes of Eden. The writing process and revising for publication were separate, but Shelby is so organized that it simplified the process for both. She gave me the opportunity to learn about something she was excited to learn with me, and this experience has influenced how I view the work of Academia and the value of new research, especially in the humanities. If you are interested in history, architecture, anthropology, or anything people and history centered, Shelby would be great. I couldn't recommend anything more.
1. Ms. Michaela Novakovic helped/gave me right guidance to publish a paper all by myself. This helped me get more interest in research and removed all fears on research.
2. Ms. Kiara Reece helped me streamline the entire application process to make it simple and stress free.
1. The advisor that helped my daughter in making her the research paper was great. Hands off too her. She made sure my daughter did everything on her own. But gave her exact direction/guidance she requires. My daughter is proud of the accomplishment Michaela Novokovic
2. We didn’t have good experience with college application advisor initially but was able to swap with new advisor.- Kiara Reeves. The new advisor is making the job easy for my daughter without stressing out too much. I believe this experience will continue.
Exceptional experience and outcome with Solomon Consulting and Jina Walker
The consultant we used, Jina Walker, was truly exceptional. She recommended an excellent strategy and theme for my son's application, which no doubt was pivotal in his acceptance at the University of Michigan. She also was very patient with him when his essays weren't the quality she was looking for. Don't hesitate to hire Solomon; it's without a doubt, worth the expense.
Personalized, Professional, and Positive From Start to Finish
Our experience with Solomon Admissions was exceptional from start to finish. The onboarding and matching process was thoughtfully done, and we were paired with a counselor who truly understood our daughter and her goals. From the very first meeting, it was clear that our counselor cared deeply about helping students find not just the right school, but the right fit. Once that fit was identified, she helped design an application strategy that made sense, one that approached our daughter holistically and built a cohesive, authentic story arc across every part of her application.
What stood out most was the balance our counselor struck between guiding our daughter and empowering her to take ownership of the process. As parents, we were kept informed through meeting notes and updates, yet our daughter was encouraged to drive her own progress, exactly what we had hoped for. The result was a calm, organized, and confidence-building experience for everyone involved.
Our counselor offered honest, strategic guidance on school selection and helped transform our daughter’s personal statement and essays into polished reflections of her strengths, passions, and individuality. She provided thoughtful feedback that elevated each piece while preserving our daughter’s unique voice and vision.
Having worked with a different company for our older child a few years ago, we can say without hesitation that Solomon was a completely different experience, more personal, more professional, and far more effective. The level of attention and care exceeded our expectations in every way.
We’re especially grateful that our counselor created a detailed schedule and workflow that kept our daughter on track, writing, reviewing, editing, and finalizing essays weeks before deadlines. She’s now enjoying her senior year with far less stress, which is priceless.
We’re so thankful for the support, insight, and encouragement throughout this journey. It’s rare to find a service that truly partners with both students and parents, but Solomon did just that. We would enthusiastically (and I mean really enthusiastically) recommend them to any family navigating the college admissions process. Don’t wait, our only regret is not finding them sooner.
Solomon performed on all levels with no flaws. Always an email away and responses very quick as we had things come up and wanted advice. The standard ongoing consulting is also very well thought out and our specific consultant was very knowledgeable and well matched to our daughter.
We have now worked with Shayla at Solomon with two of our high school children. Shayla has been absolutely outstanding and if I could give her 10 out of 5 stars I would. She has helped us navigate the confusing world of college admissions with ease. She gives the kids clear direction, attainable goals, and has answered innumerable questions from me and the kids. She has undoubtably given our kids the best chance possible to get into their desired colleges.
I used this company for my twin boys. The advisor was a recent graduate of a well-known school in Chicago. When she no showed for one of our Zoom meetings, it must have rang an alarm bell, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. The whole thing was a disaster. They would proof read the essays and would sent them back with significant basic errors which they had created, that we had to correct ourselves.
Philana Tenhoff did an amazing job at keeping me on task throughout my high school years. She helped me find research and suggest me resources to help strengthen my application. Now that I am in the application process, her feedback and guides have been helpful, and I hope to have positive results when admissions are released.
We started working with Carla Crooker fairly late, when our child was in the second half of 11th grade. However, Carla quickly understood his strengths and immediately suggested a few extracurriculars to strengthen overall profile. She also provided complete clarity on course selection.
She was practical in her approach to college selections, ensuring a balanced list of reach, target, and safety schools. During the application process, Carla was diligent in reviewing essays, often going through several rounds of revisions. As a result of her tremendous guidance, our child was admitted to multiple excellent schools, including Ivy League colleges.
While Delphine Byrd is very honest with me about what needs to be accomplished in order to be successful, she works to adapt the plan to suit my commitments and interests.
The benefits of starting the process early and with a counselor who can balance both firmness and flexibility
Our positive experience with Solomon Admissions has been largely due to our counselor, Delphine Byrd. While the Solomon program has been insightful, Delphine brought it to life. She finds the right balance between conveying what is a “must do” and adapting the program to maximize the strengths and interests of our son. We feel fortunate to have started the process early (before 9th grade started) so as to leverage Delphine’s expertise in course selection and overall positioning.
I recently finished a 7 year journey working with Solomon for my two sons. Worked with their senior consultant, Peter Zimmerman for both of them. Older son is class of Duke 2024, and the younger one just started this Fall at Vanderbilt. It was such a rewarding experience to see my 2 kids grow, learn, adjust, and finally end up at their dream colleges. Can't say enough about the guidance and insight we received from Peter Z throughout the process (too many to list). Highly recommend Solomon if the aspiration and affordability is there for admissions in elite colleges.
