My partner booked a table for 2 at the Boat Inn Litchfield on line for Sat evening 29/4/23. Unfortunately we had to cancell an hour later due to unforeseen circumstances. Found out this morning 30/4/23 that her card had been charged £40 for cancelling. What a rip off.
Used to go to Oddfellows in the Boat years ago, as it was a good mid-point between family in the north and south. It used to be a really good gastro pub type of establishment, with a great team of chefs and a really good menu, with lots of game that you don’t see much of now. Then we didn’t go far a while, and about 5 years ago, we went back for a Sunday dinner. The management had changed, and the menu completely changed. I was disappointed in the change, and with the food. Now, we decided to give it another go, and I have to say, I’m so glad we did. It’s now genuinely a fine dining venue, and the food is absolutely outstanding. I mean, really, really good. We’ve eaten at quite a few Michelin starred establishments, and a star here cannot be that far away. It an hour and a half drive for us, so we usually only pop in if we’re passing. I’d honestly consider making the journey here now, even if we were not passing.
