This the worst company to buy an engine you is guaranteed to ride 2?weeks and the poor excuse they give it was running hot my mechanic told them that tab wasn’t running hot but the used it to keep my money sound like a lot illegal Mexican just getting over and out system is letting them rip people off I promise you don’t buy shit from the if you do you just paying to put a piece junk in your car and all you gonna get is their lies now you done lost your money for the engine and the price to put it in plus my my mechanic change out the starter water pump alternator all that for a bullshit ass engine they don’t because they have the USA backing them up

If I could give 0000 stars I would. I purchased a 2013 toyota highlander engine with approximately 49000 miles on it back in 10/10/2025 once my mechanic received the engine(almost a month later) he called to inform me that from the look of the engine it's not less than 100,000 miles and oil leak and so forth so I contact the person I have been dealing with(Elena) at the Used Engine and she firmly stated that my mechanic was wrong blah blah, I was like OK so I check the VIN number with DMV and Boom!!!!! The engine has 189000 miles basically the whole engine history so they LIED!!! So I contacted Elena back to tell her what i have found , at first she didn't believe me until I showed her proof then the game started. She tried to play me by saying the engine i got was the right one but the paperwork attached with it was the wrong due to mixed up at the warehouse so basically she will send the right paperwork, I was like nope , you will pick up your engine and will send me the engine i paid for or I will take the legal route so she "escalated " to Daisy and Daisy was even worst. At this point I didn't trust them anymore so request my refund and send a Certified Letter to the Galleria location office, few days later i get a call from daisy begging me to accept a new shipment with the right engine So we agreed upon them replacing the engine with the one I ordered with the correct miles on it and Daisy promised to deliver the correct engine to my mechanic mid November and guess what ? They couldn't produce that engine because either they didn't have it or they will lose money because I paid almost 4k. So right before Thanksgiving I get a call from Daisy again " im sorry but we will just refund you your money and we are so sorry" I was like WTF???? At this point I have been without a car for almost 2 months!!!!! I was so mad and disappointed 😞. After that I stopped answering their calls or apology emails and wanted my money back so finally earlier December literally 10 days ago I received my money back. I will never ever recommend them to anyone even if they are giving away free engines. They are the biggest scammed . PLEASE PLEASE do your due diligence by checking and making sure they sold you the right engine the one you actually paid for! If my mechanic was one of these mechanics that just wanted to get paid for the job, he would have just put the engine in the I will be dealing with car issues afterwards but luckily my mechanic is an honest one and have been dealing with hin for over 15 years! Wait of time, energy and money!

Used engines helped me get a low mileage engine for a jeep wrangler. I purchased the jeep with no warranty and the motor lasted 2 months. Money was tight, but used engines got us financed and shipped out the engine pretty quick. Thanks again used engines.

I finally received my engine on Friday…

I finally received my engine on Friday (Nov. 7th 2025)Thanks Daisy for seeing this egregious mishap through. However, I wasn’t offered any discounts or adjustments for the error made in sending me the wrong motor and the motor I paid for originally was 62k miles. Hopefully, I have a good motor, though it’s 5k miles more than the motor I originally paid for. I did accept the 68k motor. Due to the egregious mishap I believe I should have been offered a discount or some other adjustments. Once the motor is installed, it’s my hope that all the mistakes made will alleviate my disappointments. Additionally, as of this writing the wrong motor that was delivered has not been picked up. The delay caused me money and caused trust issues with my mechanic. If not for Daisy, my patience with this experience would not have lasted this long. Wish me luck with this engine and no more issues.

This company may not even exist. They provide no way to talk to upper management. They only have one 800 number and no one I talk to provides logical responses. Appears to be a fraud. Prove me wrong. Well Daisy stepped in and redeemed my faith in Used Engines. I don't know if it was arranged to go the way it did but after Daisy got involved the securement and shipment of my engine was flawless. Unlike Elena who wouldnt return phone call and answer simple questions, Daisy made sure my engine was pulled, tested, packed and shipped immediately. While knowing that sometime terrible things happen to items during shipping, the ability to explain the circumstances in a calming way is essential to doing good business. Daisy did that in explaining that while the engine I initially was suppose to receive from Elena had fallen off the truck and was destroyed, Daisy jumped right in found a replacement and had it on the way in no time. Since that time the the engine has been received and installed with a few small problem that should be expected with a engine that has 118000 miles on it but for the price and the time it took after Daisy took over my order it's been worth it and I'm driving my truck again with confidence at this point that I will get good result out of my purchase. Thank again Daisy for proving me wrong that Used Engines Inc does exist and with caring people like Daisy to take care of customers when things go bad they will continue to be a great company that an produce results when the need is called for.

Defective Engine, No Accountability — Buyer Beware

I purchased a replacement engine from Thrifty Engines / UsedEngines.us and experienced one of the most frustrating and unprofessional transactions of my career. After paying over $3,000 for what was supposed to be a tested, warrantied engine, my mechanic (a licensed shop owner) found the unit to be defective on arrival — rusted internals and a locked crankshaft. I immediately provided photos, documentation, and multiple written updates, yet communication from Thrifty Engines was slow, inconsistent, and evasive. Weeks were lost due to mislabeling on their shipping paperwork, which delayed installation and cost me additional shop labor and rental fees. Despite their internal errors, they repeatedly created arbitrary “deadlines” and procedural demands that were not stated anywhere in the original warranty, apparently to avoid responsibility for their own defective product. My mechanic remained available to verify the engine’s condition, and I stayed in communication throughout. The company’s final “denial” letter was inaccurate and dismissive, ignoring the facts already provided. In short: I paid thousands for a non-functional engine and received only obstruction and empty promises in return. Buyers should document everything, avoid paying via direct wire or cash app, and use a local, verifiable supplier instead. I am now pursuing formal complaints and small-claims action in multiple states (CA, TX, AL).

Poor customer service when there is a problem

I own an auto repair shop and have been in business for 28 years. In this time I have had some bad experiences with purchasing used engines and transmission. Used Engines Inc seemed to be a breath of fresh air UNTIL YOU HAVE AN ISSUE!!! I had purchased multiple engines from these guys. Last engine purchase was a Ford 3.5 Ecoboost. The engine was quoted at $4000 by Sarah Williams so I purchased it. A week later I get a call that the engine I purchased was not available but they found a replacement for $6,500 with 30k less miles (but no one could give me the miles). I agreed to have them bill my card but I requested a 5 year warranty on engine, they agreed. We installed engine and it ran great for about 6 months. At the time check engine light came in for low turbo boost and timing chains had an excessive rattle at startup. I called Sarah to put in a claim and she told me that timing belts were not covered and should have been changed out before install. After months of going back and forth Sarah agreed that the chains were internal and not an external timing belt. After 4 times of sending the estimate of $2,800 to replace timing chains and phasers Sarah said her boss Alan Gessler agreed to pay $600 towards the repair. My customer was furious and agreed to have me fix the truck and he will think about how to handle Used Engine Inc. truck is fixed and back on the road running great. I reached back out to Sarah Williams to let her know that my customer had settled down and would like to get the $600 refund as promised. Sarah never responded but Elena Wilson did. She stated that she would need to reach out to Alan to get refund approval. Few days later she told me that refund was approved and I would receive refund within 48 hrs. Well that was over 2 months ago and still no refund. Elena has come up with every excuse in the world and now for the last month doesn’t even respond to emails. I have CC’d my emails to Alan Gessler, Brad Wall and Ryan Smith, still no one has responded. Luckily I have everything in email and if needed I will proceed with other methods of reimbursement. I strongly suggest you DO NOT do business with this company. Everything is fine until it isn’t, read other reviews of customers having the same issues. West Lake Auto Center Heath Fifield Owner
