Consistency and pride
There's an Anchorman quote I love: "60% of the time it works *every* time." It's such a ridiculous way to hand wave a 40% failure rate. But it always gets me thinking -- is there anything that actually works 100% of the time every time? Food is a subjective experience so I'm not saying Valerie's will knock it out of the park for everyone. But from the customer service to the inventive goods both sweet and savory, this place is consistently great and the pride they have in their work is clear. So for me, this place is pretty perfect.
Fallen fruit cake
The only thing that could be better about this cake would be pickup in echo park. It’s amazing—I can’t get enough. And it’s beautiful. Fallen fruit cake absolutely dazzles every time.

Valerie Confections is absolutely wonderful. Valerie is truly a master chocolatier, and after enjoying her chocolates for nearly a decade, she is my favorite chocolatier. The pie was incredibly delicious. The chocolates were exceptional and consistently balanced in flavor and texture. Highly recommended!!

Customer service was excellent. One of the items was sold out. Navigating a purchase of a last minute replacement and making sure everything was delivered together took extra effort, and was very much appreciated!
Looked and tasted amazing!
Just wanted to drop this note to rave about the cake I ordered for a bday. I’ve had experiences where the product did not look like the pictures advertised. However, this one blew me away. The cake looked just as it does in the pics and the taste was exquisite. Everyone complimented the look/taste. This is why I love that Valerie’s is my neighborhood coffee spot. I don’t think I can attach a pic here so I’ll be posting it on Yelp.
