We just returned from our trip to Southeast Asia visiting 4 countries over 16 days. It was an amazing trip . . . the sites we visited were amazing, the guides were fantastic, the logistical details were seemless, the food was incredible. You know it's a good trip if you know you want to go back . . . and we're going back to see more.
My husband and I are in our 60's and have taken 2 trips with Alexander and Roberts and have been extremely pleased with both of them. We are normally independent travelers, however when we want to go someplace out of our comfort zone, we like to take a tour. We went to Egypt in Feb 2020 and Peru in May 2025. The small group size (16 or less) is wonderful. It enables you to be on a mini-bus instead of a full-sized bus and you can get on and off of the bus quickly. If you visit multiple areas within a country, they do "pass you off" from one guide to another, but in my opinion, that is ideal because you are getting a local guide who knows that area. We found all of the guides to be extremely knowledgeable and well-trained. The hotels and food were more luxurious than we thought was necessary. With the small group, you are sometimes eating in restaurants and can order from the menu instead of eating all buffet meals. The travelers were mostly aged 50 and up, but we found the tour quite active. We saw the guides help people deal directly with minor illnesses rather than leaving them to deal with it on their own. I recommend booking on a trip that is already marked "guaranteed" meaning that they won't cancel due to low enrollment. I believe they might guarantee a trip once around 5 or 6 people sign up. Our Peru trip had only a group of 8. Alexander and Roberts trips are not cheap, but we felt that we got our money's worth in the high quality of the trip. They don't advertise much, but I don't think they have to since word of mouth does the job. Many of the people on our tours were repeat customers, or if first time, said they would definitely be recommending the company to others!
Very attentive to our requests and flexible Great hotels and itinerary Our guide Lius was very knowledgeable, attentive and engaging. We felt it was good value and would highly recommend.
Our guide was excellent in providing a comprehensive and enlightening experience. The itinerary, accommodations, and activities met or exceeded expectations.
One driver was a half-hour late, which made our timed entrance into a scheduled site tenuous. Also, there was no overall coordinator to confirm times and place to meet. One pre-paid dinner did not allow for choices, which was a problem. It our guides were great and the hotels wonderful. None of the drivers spoke English, but were friendly and efficient. We LOVED this trip!
The drivers, tour guides ,and hotels were outstanding.
Alexander & Roberts arrange wonderful tours with excellent guides. The hotels are excellent as well. They only take groups of 16 or less, so it is always a pleasure traveling with them. There are always unexpected additions. The price of your tour includes transfers to and from airports and tips to all, including bus drivers and local guides. You are responsible for a tip to your tour guide. I have traveled to China and Japan with A&R and I recommend them.
This is my 4th trip with Alexander and Robert’s and they never disappoint,The first trip I joined them was in Peru and the hotel that we stayed are all Botique hotels, and at the center.Walking distance from the City Center so you can walk to most of the sites.i always travel with my sister and we we’re impressed with the friendly service from the Drivers ,and The tour director, are very knowledgeable.our trip this year was Crossroads Albania and Macedonia,it was awesome our meals was all farm to table which I love, and amazing.i can’t think of anything negative. And they try to accommodate your request with a smile. I’m planning to go to Japan next year and I only want to go with Alexander and Robert’s.
We completed our first trip with Alexander & Roberts and were thoroughly impressed from start to finish. First, their itinerary on our trip to Morocco was the most complete and comprehensive of the six tour operators we considered. Their travel app is the best that I've ever seen, allowing one to not only see the full daily itinerary, but to utilize functional aspects like a currency converter, travel information, flight scheduling, etc. The tour included every meal out and all tips with the exception of the guide. The quality of the accommodations (hotels, riads, etc) and restaurants were all 4 and 5-star caliber. The Fast Track assistance through the airport was also appreciated, expediting our passage through customs. All in all, this was a terrific trip and tour operator! We've already passed A&R along to several friends for consideration. You won't be sorry!
The guides were all great but the person we will most remember was our driver for the day to Siena and San gimignano - he was so personable , pointed out sights along the way, gave us wonderful suggestions for dinner and shopping and went out of his way to make our trip the best - he is the one we remember most fondly he was our driver October 20th,2025.
A+R thought of every detail. It was the most stress free vacation I've ever taken. The lodging was superb, service was impeccable and the safaris were fantastic! I wouldn't change a thing.
I thought I had done this. But, I don’t mind doing this again! Because, I had the most incredible trip in my entire lifetime! I didn’t know that having a visa and passport were 2 different entities. My guide and Mackinze from AAA got me through this mess!
We were guided thru the entire trip, from the airport and at every transportation change.
Unbelievable trip to Africa using Alexander & Robert’s. They took fantastic care of us. We’ve already booked an Alaska trip through them. Can’t wait!
Our experience was great tour guide and made sure we spotted the polar bears swimming in the water and on land. He also made sure that we were close to the beluga whales, but not close enough that we’re disturbing them. The Lazy Bear Lodge was beautiful and the food was great. They had milkshakes available all day that with delicious flavors. The staff in the dining room was amazing as they were always very helpful with your meals.
All of the details for the trip were perfectly planned. All we had to do was relax and enjoy the trip.
This is the second trip we've done with Alexander and Roberts. This trip was to Africa. We did the tour "On Safari in Kenya and Tanzania", with add-on before (Victoria Falls), and add-on after (Rwanda Gorillas). The trip was perfectly executed. We loved the lodges where we stayed. The team leader in Kenya (Japhet Mrabu) and the team leader in Tanzania (Raymond Teekishe) were both wonderful. They are knowledgeable guides and shared their love of what they do to make this trip extra special. My husband and I highly recommend A & R and we will be booking with them again.
This is a short note to wrap-up our wonderful A-R managed vacation in Africa. We’d like to especially mention some of folks who made this probably the best vacation we have ever had: · Amboseli National Park – Leyla & Fred · Ngorongoro Crater – Coka (Amani) & Andrew · Serengeti - Coka (Amani) & Julius · Maasai Mara – Maureen & Henry · Back to Nairobi – Maureen & Brian May have missed a few names – but we want to emphasize that they were all knowledgeable, friendly, had an attention to detail; went the extra distance in finding the correct spots for us to see (constantly communicating in Swahili with the ‘home base’ for information) – just excellent!
As Canadians we had a very difficult time with the group of all Americans. Our tour guide had difficulty communicating in English, and was overpowered by very domineering guests. They played basketball games on their phones while we were trying to hear and understand our guide. One wore clothing supporting Alex Jones, the Sandy Hook denier. We heard many 51st state comments. This might be acceptable to other Americans, but it felt like bullying to us. We communicated our feedback to A&R and they were initially receptive. Their response though was a credit for future use on a minimum 5 day tour, in the value of 5% of the cost of this trip. The hotels and transfers were fine, but we paid for a tour to have the information and education from a guide. We did not get that, and it had more value to us than 5% of the cost.
Dear Ms. Lewis, As you know, we were deeply distressed by the behavior you described of three guests traveling with you in Japan, expressed personally to you by our Concierge on multiple occasions. We remain concerned with the aggression and rudeness displayed to you. Thus, in August we adjusted our terms and conditions for all guests to include this new provision: ‘Alexander+Roberts may require a guest to leave the tour if it is reasonably believed that the guest may adversely affect the safety, security, comfort, enjoyment or well-being of other guests.’ In recognition of your experience, we did provide a future credit per person that is combinable with all current offers, well in excess of 5% depending on the trip you might choose. We regret your experience and hope we might have the pleasure of servicing you once again. Thank you, Robert Drumm CEO
