What people say

Their billing department is a succubus

Their billing department is a succubus. Even after canceling my subscription with them, this company changed their name (slightly) so that the new unauthorized charge would be processed. I noticed the deductions from my account and had to go through the dispute process to have the charges removed. Do not trust their billing system. Use free services. DO NOT use this company. Or use a card with an expiration date within the next 30-60 days. Ancestry cannot be trusted.

I am trying to remove my ex sister in…

I am trying to remove my ex sister in law as the “manager” of my accounts. Both mine and my granddaughter, which by the way you listed as my niece. KPETERSON is NOT related to me. Please remove her from my Ancestry and my granddaughter Ava Donaldson DOB 02/08/07. I have emailed about my account in the past. Please tell me how to remove her as the manager.

Hi DLS! Relationship predictions like niece or granddaughter are based on shared DNA percentages, and since full nieces and granddaughters share a similar amount of DNA, the system assigns a primary predicted category. You can easily update this relationship label manually by clicking on her DNA match profile and editing the relationship category. Regarding managing account permissions, account owners or managers can update or remove management access anytime under Account Settings in the Tree Management or DNA Settings section. You can find additional instructions for this under the "Managing Invitations in your DNA" sections of this link: https://support.ancestry.com/s/article/Sharing-AncestryDNA-Results?language=en_US If you need any additional support or assistance with this, we'd be happy to help however we can. Stagnant and needs to roll out AI tools

Ancestry has a very large subscriber base, the largest pool of DNA tests, to match with, the second largest records collection after Family Search, and very good tree functionality. Unfortunately, as time has gone on, they have failed to upgrade search functionality for either records or DNA matches. They instead focus on gimmicky stuff of little research value. Everything is geared to newbies and experienced genealogists are left to fend for themselves. They need to invest in compute and offer AI search and analysis, even at a premium or one of the hyperscalers will eat their lunch someday to monetize its own investment in compute.

Thank you for sharing this lovely review with us! It's wonderful to hear that you have connected with relatives, some of whom you already knew but didn't realise you were related to. What a small world. We are excited for you to continue on this incredible journey of personal discovery.

They won't stop the monthly debits.

Good product. But once they have your credit card, they will bill you and bill you and bill you. I have a CONFIRMATION NUMBER to indicate that I have canceled--so they said "sure, your membership is canceled as of ... three months from now." Then they bill and bill you and bill you.

Hi Steven! We are very sorry to hear about your frustration regarding your subscription charges and cancellation date. When a subscription is canceled, access typically remains active through the end of the paid billing period, but you should not receive further recurring charges beyond that end date. Because we cannot access account or billing details over public platforms for security reasons, please reach out to our support team directly so an agent can review your confirmation details and resolve any billing discrepancies right away! Ancestry is number "ONE" with me

Ancestry is number "ONE" with me. The best genealogy site in the world. I would like to make one request though and that is to have Ancestry available to law enforcement and genetic genealogists to bring home missing and unidentified remains through DNA-genetic genealogy. With this new technology now available to the world please consider this request. Thank you!

Assistant very helpful and patient!

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY. THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY, AND YOU WILL GET COMPLETELY NOTHING. THE MOMENT YOU WANT TO GET INFORMATION, THEY WANT YOU IN A MONTHLY PLAN. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Thanks for reaching out to us with this review, Martha. We are sorry to hear that this is your impression of Ancestry and are eager to address this with you. Here at Ancestry, members are able to choose the level of access and the length of subscription that best suits their research needs and their budget. We do this in order to try and accomodate everyone. If you have a subscription but are being met with a paywall and are being asked to upgrade, this would suggest that the plan you opted for does not cover all the records you want to access. We're eager to offer some context to prices we charge for subscriptions. Please be advised that we have dedicated teams tasked with negotiating agreements with archives and record offices so we can publish records on our website. These records then need to be scanned, transcribed, and indexed so they can be searched for on our site. The record databases and the website, including our members' 130+ million family trees, and the research tools that we offer, require huge computer servers around the world, which also require a team of individuals to manage and service. This work, along with a variety of other factors required for the day-to-day running of our website, requires funding, which is covered in the cost of our memberships. With that said, we do our best to ensure a quality service at a competitive price, including offering sales and discounts at different points throughout the year. Please feel free to give our customer support team a call on the number listed below and one of our agents will be happy to offer you some research assistance to make sure you're able to get the very most out of the time you spend researching on Ancestry. 1-800-401-3193 (Seven days a week from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm ET.)
