Data camp is a learning environment that doesn't sell individual courses, it's a whole procession that will prepare you for higher education, landing a job or enjoy data science as a hobby.

Sneaky hidden costs

I am extremely disappointed with DataCamp’s subscription and renewal process. I originally signed up for DataCamp through my previous employer and was unaware that the subscription remained linked to that account after I changed jobs. Without any active use of the platform, I was recently charged approximately $170 for an annual renewal that I neither intended to continue nor have any ability to use. To make matters worse, because the account was tied to my former workplace, I couldn’t even access it myself to manage or cancel the subscription. I had to contact someone at my old company and ask them to cancel it on my behalf. By the time this was resolved, the annual charge had already been taken. Charging customers for a full year upfront, particularly when they have not used the service and may no longer have access to the account, feels unfair and incredibly frustrating. The renewal process lacks transparency and creates a situation where people can easily be caught out by automatic charges for services they no longer need. I have effectively paid $170 for a subscription that I will receive zero benefit from, and I believe a full refund would be the fair and reasonable outcome in this situation. I would strongly encourage DataCamp to review its renewal practices, improve communication around upcoming charges, and make it easier for users to manage subscriptions when changing employers. My experience has left me feeling disappointed, frustrated, and unlikely to use or recommend the platform in the future. I am a student and can’t afford these fees, I really need this refund to my account ASAP

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share what happened. Losing access to an account tied to a former employer, only to be charged for a renewal you had no way to anticipate or prevent, is a genuinely frustrating situation, and I completely understand why you feel the way you do. Let me give you a clear picture of how DataCamp's billing works, because I think some context here is genuinely useful. DataCamp is a subscription-based platform, and all plans, monthly and annual, renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date. When you first sign up, we send an email explaining exactly this. That said, I fully hear you: when an account is tied to a workplace and you've moved on, managing that subscription becomes much harder than it should be. That's a real friction point, and your feedback on it is noted. On the refund, the honest answer is that renewed subscriptions are subject to our refund policy, and eligibility depends on the specific circumstances of your case. I'm not able to make that determination here, but I don't want to leave you without a next step either. Here's what I'd recommend: please submit a support request at support.datacamp.com. You can also review the refund policy directly here before reaching out, so you know what to expect: https://support.datacamp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001530353 When you submit your ticket, include the details you've shared here, particularly the account access issue tied to your former employer, as that context matters for whoever reviews your case. The support team can look at your specific situation and work through the best resolution with you. I genuinely hope this gets sorted quickly. As a student, the last thing you need is an unexpected charge hanging over you. Best,

DataCamp has been extremely helpful for…

DataCamp has been extremely helpful for my learning journey as a Software Engineering student at Daffodil International University. I have already completed more than 8 courses, and the platform has significantly improved my technical skills and confidence. I highly recommend DataCamp to my university teachers and classmates, and many of them have started using it as well. Our teachers and student clubs are also promoting DataCamp because of its high-quality learning experience.

Subscription canceled, waiting for bank release

I had an issue with an unintentional automatic renewal, but the customer support team (Sylar) was very quick to respond and deactivate my subscription. They mentioned the payment failed on their side. I am now just waiting for my bank to release the temporary authorization hold/charge. Thanks for the quick support response.

Reply from DataCamp2026-06-10

Thank you for sharing your experience, and we're glad Sylar was able to help get things sorted quickly for you! We understand how unexpected charges can be a bit stressful, so we're happy the subscription was deactivated without any hassle. The bank hold should clear up soon on their end. If you need anything else in the meantime, we're always here at support.datacamp.com. Thanks for the kind words!

I wanted to learn Python from scratch

I wanted to learn Python from scratch, and after some days in, I can say that I can already do some basic calculations with my data. The videos and exercises are good and interactive, so for me it is not feeling like a huge effort to spend time in the platform. Actually is quite fun, like if spending time in any of my hobbies. Completely recommended!

Reply from DataCamp2026-06-10

Hello! Hearing that learning Python feels like a hobby rather than a chore is exactly what we aim for. Keep going, there's a lot more to explore!
