Summer Discovery at Yale
The classes were really informational and I love how much I learned. Though, the planning could be better and arriving an hour late (multiple times) was not the best thing that happened to me.

kids' safe, interest, lunch
I rate Summer Discovery TOP NUMBER ONE organization, EXCELLENT, AMAZING, FORMATIVE and TRANSFORMATIVE experience for teens. Thank you for all the effort, profuse passion and energy towards the courses and the so many extra activities, both interesting/formative and recreational/great fun in the perfect balance! Amazing and unique academic location (UCLA).
The program is great, but I feel it is a bit challenge for day students though.
Great connection with parents mde us feel that our son was in safe hands. Fast accomodation of demands/problems. Great team.
My son enjoyed the course he chose. There seemed to be a disconnect from the courses and information being offered to the discovery staff. The entry day was disorganized and mis information was provided for the check-in process. It would make parents and kids feel more comfortable if the check in process is run more efficiently and more time was taken to prepare and set up. All in, my son had an amazing time, but it would have felt better leaving him on the day of checkin if things were better organized.
I like the setup of the program. It is very easy for parent to drop the kids and pick them up. I would be appreciated if more academic activities can be reviewed to parents
The staff (Summer Discovery and CIA) were amazing, accommodations great, hands-on experience was truly fantastic… I think the one area of improvement would be the family dinner. It could be more impactful if you shared with parents additional information about the college and its programs. Also, the students at our table were disappointed that the meal we ate was provided by different students on the campus and not them. I would have also enjoyed it more if we (the parents) were eating food prepared by our kids that we sent to the program. I think it could have made a greater impact.
The program put my son in a single room and then after the first night did not allow the kids to hang out in the common room of the dorm, but also required everyone to be inside in the evenings, so he spent most of his time alone in his very hot (no AC) dorm room. The rain and heat cancelled many of the afternoon group activities, but the kids also were not allowed to explore the campus or the town on their own. I was disappointed that such an expensive program seemed to lack communication with the kids as to what their options for socializing were. My son also said that the engineering program he participated in took place in one of the college classrooms, but that none of the maker space materials or tools were available to the Summer Discovery students. It didn’t seem as well run as some of the other comparable programs that work with their host colleges to ensure a quality experience for the students. This was a sub-par experience at a very expensive price. I would not recommend it.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your son’s experience did not meet your expectations. We understand your concerns regarding his room assignment and comfort, the limited opportunities for students to socialize, the cancellation of activities, and the lack of clear communication about alternative options. We also recognize your disappointment that the engineering course did not provide access to the maker-space tools and materials you anticipated. Our team will be reaching out to learn more about your son’s experience and better understand your concerns. We appreciate your detailed feedback and will use it to help improve the residential, social, and academic experience for future students and families.
It organize a well program, I would be more happy if we can see the work which students did during camp like presentation video with share with parents or invite them to view.
Summer Discovery was an amazing experience for me. I made a lot of really great friends that I still keep in touch with. Everyday was packed with multiple activities. There was a great balance between class time and fun time. The only comment I have is that not every student was allowed to go to the activities due to limited spots. It doesn’t make sense for all of us to pay the same amount to be there but then activities are whoever signs up first. The sign up list would come out while we were in class when most of us weren’t on our phones and then the activity would be full by the time class ended. If you don’t go to the activities there is not a lot to do because we couldn’t leave the doors without an RC. In conclusion, go if you will do the activities.
Excellent academic experience and a wonderful intro to a college campus for my rising junior.
Getting to meet staff and students from around the world, experiencing the best parts of campus and college life, learning from real world professors, and building lifelong connections made this summer an incredible experience. On top of the precollege experience, being in the mountains of New Hampshire and in the middle of nature made for a great summer camp experience with great outdoor hiking and canoeing. Within two weeks of my summer I felt that I already had a full summer experience.
I really enjoyed my time with my friends and learning about new things but I hope you guys can find more qualified people to teach.
As a parent I wasn’t really impressed, I don’t see how this was beneficial for my child attending this program. It was too expensive first and foremost. And for the money that someone pays don’t see what the benefit is.
It was just very disorganized with staff and students both not knowing what was happening and staff not having an understanding of the programming or schedule. Students had limited options to get to know one another and staff was not very friendly or outgoing. I was at Georgetown and we were there during the 4th of July but still did not get to have a fun 4th experience and were stuck on campus doing nothing. I would not recomend.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at Georgetown did not meet your expectations. We understand your concerns regarding the organization of the program, communication about schedules and activities, limited opportunities for students to connect, and your interactions with staff. We’re also disappointed to hear that the Fourth of July experience was not as engaging or enjoyable as you had hoped. Our team will be reaching out to learn more about your experience and better understand your concerns. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to help improve the experience for future students and families.
It was so fun, my rc was amazing! However, my teachers weren’t good and didn’t teach the courses well. Other than that it was great!
Good organisation, child reported positive experiences throughout the program
Excellent program with solid learning experience from clinical hands-on and didactic standpoints. Great staff and fellow students!
