Great, but be careful Canadian shoppers about possible arbitrary extra fees

SEE *EDIT BELOW Be careful Canadian shoppers : you might be charged an extra 50 % fees on your order. Apparently it depends on the customs' or the carrier's mood. I now have to pay an extra 50 % on my order if I want to receive it, even though I bought from them before with no extra. Even though we all buy stuff from US-based online stores several times a year with no such surprise at all. I contacted the seller but they only said it's up to the customs/shipping company (which they choosed themselves to deliver their products). It's a shame because their clothes are nice. *EDIT The extra fees are because of the carrier UPS, which the seller happened to use. UPS charges substantial extra fees just for *calculating* the extra taxes (base rate + percentage of the order cost, the legal Canadian/provincial tax itself is not much). The seller didn't know that, and UPS does not let you know either. Before your order, ask if the seller can use the USPS instead, as Canada Post takes over at the customs and really don't charge much for clearing. If your order is already on its way, contact UPS asap and let them know you intend to do this ridiculously basic math yourself, they'll send a form which you'll have to fill and drop in-person in some CAN federal gov office only available in the biggest cities (maybe it can be done online now). If UPS is at your door and demand you pay those fees, DO NOT ACCEPT THEM and ask the guy to come back a few days later so in the meantime you contact UPS and go full Karen. After which it is possible that they waive the fees, although without even bothering to let you or the driver know, in which case you call them on the spot when the driver is at your doorstep again. I let the seller know all that and he said he'd definitely look into going with the USPS from now on.
