Disingenuous advertising...

I ordered a plane that plainly said it was in stock. After 3 or 4 weeks I began to get worried. I contacted Dynam and was told that the plane is currently out of stock but will be in soon. The plane never showed out of stock. The plane just recently showed up. I feel this is a poor way to do business. To be fair I have purchased many Dynam planes, this is the first time this has happened.

Dynam is making strides!

I am an experienced R.C. pilot and these are my thoughts on the Dynam FW190. Dynam has made great strides in building a better product. There are still improvements to be made though, mainly in the landing gear and motor area. Don't buy a Dynam plane expecting to just put in a few screws and go fly. A little more work is required with Dynam. Personally, I like this as it allows for easier customization. The canopy came disassembled so that I could add a different pilot and do some custom paint inside the cockpit. The stickers have to be applied but it makes it easy to change the livery, if you choose. I was surprised at how great the quality was on the paint job. A huge difference from past models. Very nice paint, semi glossy and very realistic looking. Very well applied. Nice finish to the foam, you can hardly tell it is foam! I have to compliment the landing gear servos. They are slow and very scale! Much better than the old Dynam landing gear that never worked when the temperature was below 50 deg. F. Ok now the bad. The landing gear is a mess. My wheels were toed out about 15 deg. on both sides. It would be very difficult to take off and land this way. I had to disassemble and grind the flats on the top of the gear struts to rotate them inward. This is not good. Now the gear doors don't line up with the bottom of the wing. I'm still figuring that out. The gear struts are too thin and very flexible. I also don't like the fact there is no plastic pocket on the bottom of the wing, only on the top to keep the landing gear actuator from ripping out on a hard landing. This will be a problem for less experienced pilots. I also tested the c.g. and discovered that even with a relatively heavy 4S 65c 4000mah battery that the plane is extremely tail heavy. It will require much added weight in the nose to balance. This should not be the case. If you recommend a battery the plane should fly with that. The stock motor is junk anyway with super noisy bearings. I yanked it. I installed a honking big motor to compensate for the weight it needed. I used a surpass hobby 4260- 710 kv motor and an 80 amp esc. I had to use a custom prop spinner for this application. So now you have a relatively inexpensive plane that would be a good value for a new pilot but problems that will make it troublesome for less experienced pilots as well. So looks great, gear sucks, be prepared to do some work to get it right. ` This is an update for the landing gear issue. I have flown it many times and this is what I found. I tried to make this thing land with the gear it came with and maybe 1 out of 5 landings would stay on the wheels. The gear are canted in like the real FW-190 is and the thin, flimsy gear has a tendency to tuck under when it starts to veer on landing, and the plane flips over. I replaced the 75 deg. retracts with 90 deg. retracts I also purchased from Dynam and it pretty much cured the issue. The struts are straight up and down while extended and don't tend to tuck under so bad. This mod allows you to use the original gear struts and it still retracts normally. Even with all that, I still love the plane! FW-190s are just super cool looking!
