[UPDATED] Extremely disappointing experience – they charged me triple the correct amount.
[EDIT] I was contacted by the CEO himself who apologized for the mistake and provided the refund as promised by his team. For this reason I want to change my review, I am happy that in the face of the mistake they showed professionalism in the end and fixed it. ________ I turned to StartGlobal for tax filing, trusting their professionalism. After I communicated my income, they told me the fee would be $1,500, claiming that my income was above a certain threshold. However, after thoroughly reviewing all of my income, I was certain that it was below $90,000, and that the applicable fee should have been $500, as clearly stated in one of their earlier emails. In that communication, they explicitly mentioned that for income under $90,000, the fee would be $500. Despite this, I proceeded with the $1,500 payment because they assured me that if their calculations were incorrect, they would refund the difference. When I requested the refund, their reply was completely contradictory: they claimed that because my income was between $50,000 and $100,000, the $1,500 fee still applied. However, this range was never mentioned before — only the $90,000 threshold was clearly defined in their previous communication. I have proof in writing from their emails confirming what I’m saying. They changed the income brackets afterwards to avoid issuing the refund, which is both unprofessional and dishonest. I feel completely misled. Once they received the payment, they changed the terms to suit their needs. I do not recommend StartGlobal at all.
