Highly recommended!
I wanted to wait for a few weeks of experience with my new Rover TerraTrike before reviewing. All I can say is that the process was excellent, very smooth. I was informed when my trike shipped, when I should expect it, etc. I didn't go through a reseller or local bike store, I just had it sent straight to me and it all went fine. The bike arrived completely assembled in a large box, complete with cardboard ramps to assist removal from the box. I added the few accessories that weren't already attached (the fenders and storage bags) in about half an hour and was riding around town immediately. The trike is beautiful and performs like a dream. I love the CVT drivetrain. I've since added some LED wheel lighting for extra night-time visibility and a basic computer. I am thinking about adding a mid-drive electric system, but I may just keep it stock for extra exercise and not cheat on hill climbs. It is not an excellent climber, I think a bit more weight over the rear wheel would help with that, but I haven't ridden it packed up with lots of cargo yet. The day it arrived it was snowing and I took it out for ride, despite not being fat or studded-tire it did very well, never getting bogged or feeling unsafe. I can get it up to 25 km/hr on flat ground in top gear, but I wouldn't like to corner sharply at that speed. I've got closer to 40 km/hr on long down hill runs and that is rather white-knuckle for a tadpole newbie like me! It does feel much more stable than my traditional delta cargo trike when cornering, the rover centre of gravity is just much lower. I could never corner at 18 km/hr in my cargo trike, I'd flip it for sure even with lots of leaning. You can brake hard enough to plow the boom into the ground, I did this only once indoors deliberately searching for where the danger point is, and you can also of course lift a wheel or even flip it turning too sharply, especially on inclines or by abusing brake-steering. This isn't a fault, just trike dynamics 101. It is a good idea to know how far you can push your new machine in controlled circumstances before it happens on the road. The only problem I have experienced is slipping of the seat clamp. It is slowly getting worse, and I think I will need to modify the clamp or back it up with a hose clamp to prevent the seat walking backwards over time. The powder coat on the tail section and the clamp shims have a very low coefficient of friction which makes the clamp pretty ineffective and I actually lost the lower shim, it fell out somewhere, not sure how that could happen to a C-shaped piece of plastic, but it did! I did have to tighten the cruciform to boom set-screws, they loosened after maybe 20 km, but haven't given me trouble since. In summary, great trike, great seller!
