The Curse of AI
I have been using WPS office for about 6 years and until the introduction of their AI spellchecker the product would be 5 star rated. The old spell checker in the 'Docs' part of the app was superb. It did exactly what it was meant to do, which lets face it, is simply to highlight mis-spellings and suggest corrections. The AI spell checker is now being pushed on us as an upgrade 'WPS AI' for which we have to pay more money. There are two problems with this. AI spellchecker is rubbish - it is intrusive and insists on highlighting far more than just spelling, it is difficult to implement corrections. The other problem is that the old spellchecker has been removed from the program so that we are effectively paying for a program that is less capable than the one we have been using for years. With WPS hectoring us upgrade to WPS AI, we are being pushed and cajoled into paying more for a worse product than we were used to. Because WPS is adversely affecting our office productivity we are looking at changing to another office software package. Sadly it seems that WPS progress is backwards.
