Inexpensive, fun way to get your bearings.
Having already completed two (Valetta Malta, Venice Italy) of these "treasure hunts" (as my wife and I call them) and booked a third for next month (Amsterdam), I cannot recommend them enough. This is now our go-to for day one of any city break holiday. They are advertised as taking around 2 hours, but in our case we can make each one last most of the day because we are not in a hurry and like plenty of stops. By the end of day one, we have seen most of the important sites and know our way around + been well entertained, all for around a tenner. The idea is that you pay around £10 for your chosen city, download the app, and when you get there enter the code from your booking confirmation email. The trail then starts! It will guide you to the start point (make sure you have Google maps on your phone too) and give you a simple clue, based on e.g. dates, faces, names on famous landmarks. You can ask for a hint or just give up, but they’re quite fun and easy. Ten landmarks later you are finished. You get your bearings on the city while having fun searching for the clues, so thoroughly recommended 😊
