Exceptional on all fronts
I contacted Alvin, the owner / expert on pandas, a few months back and he helped architect what turned out to be one of the most memorable travel experiences I've had. From start to finish every detail was attended to, every aspect seamless. Over the course of one week I participated in the following three programs: 1) One-day Panda Cub Volunteering at Wolong Panda Base; this is the only reserve where you can both feed and pet a panda cub. As other reviewers have noted, Kiki is an amazing, affable, extremely knowledgeable guide. 2) One-day Panda Volunteering at Dujiangyan Panda Base; this is the closest reserve to Chengdu where you can volunteer, and one of the former DC pandas, Tai Shan, currently resides here. 3) Four days of volunteer work at Bifengxia Panda Base; this is a bit farther away in Ya'an but if you have the time, I definitely recommend making the trip and staying overnight as the setting and staff are both spectacular. I also booked transportation through My Panda Tour to Chengdu Airport in addition to car services to/from the bases. The drivers were excellent and the cars clean and comfortable. Alvin likewise went as far as to assist in locating a hotel near Bifengxia, which isn't as intuitive as you'd think when researching the area. I could continue to grant accolades endlessly so I'll finish with this — if you're traveling to Chengdu and intend on volunteering, hire My Panda Tour. It's an unforgettable experience of a lifetime.
