Just swept under the carpet.
In May 2025 ,Vodafone merged with Three mobile operators. J Sainsbury originally used the mobile operator Three, providing the operating app for customers. Since the merger, any Sainsbury customer that is using a mobile provider, other than Vodafone or Three, cannot now access, the mobile app, in store. This includes all other smaller mobile providers who piggyback off the EE or O2 network. Having notified Sainsbury’s on a few occasions, the Executive complaints team, have now contacted Sainsbury technical department, to look into the ongoing problem. We were notified, that it could take time to rectify, but having tried again on August 25th, there is still no progress, and I doubt Sainsbury will ever rectify it. Admittedly, you can use the hand held scanners instead. But not everyone is happy using them, and looking at the decreasing customers shopping in our local store, I believe this problem, is having a detrimental effect on customers, who prefer to use their own mobile phones. So, why are customers with Vodafone / Three access, given preference, and can still use the mobile app? Surely, this mobile app access should be available to all mobile phone customers, like pre- merger with Vodafone. It, looks very much like Sainsbury’s Technical department, has just swept the matter under the carpet. Not good enough, Sainsbury’s. Regards Paul
