Df64coffee

Buy locally instead

I bought a DF64V a couple of years ago, which failed recently. I confirm what others have said: the claim that there's no import tax, which is plastered all over their website, depends on their practice of making false declarations for customs purposes. Once the purchase has shipped and hit customs, you can run into all sorts of problems, including paying a hefty import charge yourself. My purchase was sent back by local customs due to "irregularities" in its labelling and there was then a whole load of back and forth with DF64 (during which they asked me to spend yet more money and make a blatantly false statement to customs); I refused, but eventually received the grinder after a long wait. I assume they paid the import charges themselves. I contacted the company when my grinder failed and they advised I should buy a replacement PCB at $140, which I did. The website said it was in stock, and I received an email confirming that "Your order is on the way", which turned out to be a lie: the PCB was not in stock and is not on the way. I wrote today and was informed that it's expected by the end of the week. The grinder itself works fine and the purchase price is attractive, but reckoning in the PCB purchase I've just had to make, I've saved no money over a local purchase of a grinder that would be just as good and would have been protected by a better warranty (as I'm in the EU). Unlike some others, I've found the business responds fairly quickly to enquiries etc., but honestly my recommendation on balance is to save yourself the hassle of dealing with this shady business and buy locally! UPDATE 20/5/'26: DF64 has responded to my review by pointing out that the warranty period has expired and that's why I have to pay for parts and shipping. I know that: nowhere in my review did I claim that this shouldn't be the case. It would be the same if I bought locally (except it would have been a 2 year warranty, rather than 1). My 2 star review results from a balance of considerations: it recognises the quality of the grinder, the good price and the company's reasonably quick response to emails etc. as positives, but the examples of misleading information on crucial issues are significant negatives. It should be noted that I didn't leave a review commenting on the issues with customs when they first occurred; I was inclined to be forgiving, because DF64 dealt with them (eventually) and I got my grinder. I'm moved to bring it up now because of the misinformation about the availability and the shipping of the PCB I just ordered, which makes two instances of misrepresentation. Once this starts to look like a habit, further trust is hard to come by. DF64, do you not value the trust of your customers?
