BeautifulHalo

Not fraudulent, just not very competent.

SHORT VERSION - Pros: Good communication; will honor rebates/refunds; uses Paypal. Cons: Very slow shipment time; poorly packaged merchandise (damaged w/ missing parts). Not scammers, just not competent. I discovered these other reviews only after ordering my floor lamp from BeautifulHalo. I was quite worried about my order to say the least. But I paid with PayPal so not all hope was lost. Anyway, my order was started on March 15th and I got an update from BeautifulHalo on April 17th with a tracking number for FedEx. They said that the package was on a certain freight carrier (they gave me the number for me to track) and that it was detained in port (Los Angeles) for Customs but has now been cleared and that they will prepare stateside shipment within 7 working days. I'd been checking the tracking number on FedEx web site and they acknowledged the package's existence (with weight and dimensions) but that they hadn't received it yet. On April 28th I inquired BeautifulHalo for an update and they asked me to be patient. By May 5th, FedEx still had not received it so I told BeautifulHalo that if FedEx doesn't receive it by May 8th, I will expect a full refund. They tried to appease me and ask for more time by offering me a rebate of 10% (and then a rebate of 50%). I did not accept and told them "May 8th", period. Well as luck would have it, by May 06 (the very next day), FedEx had finally received the package and it eventually arrived to my place of business. When I opened the box, the lamp was nestled in some styrofoam packaging that was molded only for the base and light fixture itself. The four-section rods were poorly cushioned and their painted metal surfaces were resting on top of each other at angles, causing some scuffing. Furthermore, the threaded nipple connector that the cord goes through where the base is connected to the standing rod was pinched and broken in half (no damage was apparent to the box itself, mind you). Also, there was a connector piece (that connects the vertical rod sections) that was missing. Fortunately, I was able to recover those pieces from a hardware store and a thrift shop. I followed up with Beautiful Halo about the damages having agreed to a 35% discount from the total cost. I know there's a lot of people on here who think they're scammers but in their defense, they at least sold a decent product (aside from the poor handling) which surprised me how nice it was when I put it together. I don't know if I'd still be waiting on this had I not put my foot down when I did. They were actually very punctual in their communication and they did offer rebates to negotiate for my appeasement. But if I had the opportunity to do business again, I probably would not.
