A great phone, spoiled by crippled firmware.
A great phone but now with custom-crippled firmware installed. Having initially bought the BV5000 some years ago, the phone impressed me with battery life and general value for money so when I finally decided to upgrade, i decided to stay loyal to the brand. Unfortunately, that was a mistake in my case as the BV6600 Pro will NOT permit any of the usual Apps that make a copy of your phone calls, so you can check details later (we need it to check booking details etc). I messaged BV technical support and they replied with this:- Hello, customer, the current version of this model uses Google's default dial-up for recording. He cannot record without this recording function. It is recommended to download a dial-up APP with a recording function to use it. The problem is the "default dial-up" as supplied doesn't seem to support recording at all - and there are no clues what APPs *do* support it. Very disappointed as I thought the whole point of unlocked Android phones was that *YOU* get to choose what APPS you need and which ones offer the bes functions. NONE of the best reviewed / rated APPS can work with Blackview now. Why have they decided to cripple their hardware? Sadly, I wish I had not stayed loyal to Blackview. I now wonder what other APPS have been spoiled. WHY ??
