IndiGo

Pleasant Cabin Crew, but Poor Catering and Extremely Slow Baggage Delivery

I travelled on an IndiGo flight from Sharjah (SHJ) to Amritsar (ATQ) on 6 October. While some aspects of the flight were perfectly fine, the overall experience was let down by the catering, cleanliness and especially the baggage handling on arrival. I had pre-selected and paid for the “Meal of the Day”, but onboard I was told that the only option available was a chicken tikka sandwich. No alternative was offered. What was even more surprising was that I was only the second passenger to be served, yet they were already out of tea. If passengers are paying in advance for meals, the airline should ensure that the advertised meal and basic beverage choices are actually available. The toilets were also quite dirty and did not appear to be cleaned or properly maintained during the flight. On the positive side, the cabin crew were pleasant, courteous and seemed to be doing the best they could with the resources available. The seats and general cabin area were clean, and the rest of the onboard experience was comfortable and consistent with what I would normally expect from IndiGo. The biggest disappointment, however, was the baggage experience at Amritsar Airport. It took almost one hour after landing for us to receive our bags. Baggage delivery was extremely slow—the conveyor repeatedly stopped, and even while it was running there were long periods when no bags appeared at all. Waiting nearly one hour for baggage after a 3.5-hour flight is extremely frustrating and significantly affects the overall travel experience. Overall, the flight itself was acceptable and the cabin crew deserve credit, but IndiGo needs to improve its onboard catering availability and work with the airport/ground-handling team to ensure much faster and more efficient baggage delivery.
