STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY
UPDATE: I finally got a copy of my contract by email - turns out the "account manager" lied (shocking, I know) - she told me we had signed the contract last August 2021 (which neither my hubby nor I remembered at all). Surprise! We signed it in August 2017!!!! So, looks like we're within strike of our cancellation period. Now, I've requested a cancellation form, which they refuse to email to me ("you'll receive it in 5 - 7 days" - I intend to call them everyday until I receive it) which has to be filled out and either mailed or faxed (I intend to do BOTH) - PLUS we have to notify them by telephone as well. The "manager" I spoke with refused to give me her real or full name ("Just Marry - M-A-R-R-Y"; when she asked for MY full name I said, "____, just ____"). I'm pretty sure this is an overseas call center. When I requested a Native English Speaker because I couldn't understand "Marry" they could not provide one. We've been trying to get out of one of their fraudulent contracts for years - they trap you into this service with smooth talking door-to-door conmen who promise you the best service and what you're stuck with is run-of-the-mill clunky hardware that frequently spazzes out and deceptive billing practices. Recently, we switched over to a more "DIY" service which offered a MUCH lower monthly monitoring cost and much better customer service, along smaller and more elegant equipment. When I attempted to cancel, I was told I had to speak with an "account manager" who would call me back the following Monday. No one called. So I called back and after sitting for 1/2 hour on hold, finally got through to a "manager" who informed me I couldn't cancel unless I paid 42 months in full, basically zeroing out a 5 year contract, which we had been told YEARS AGO when we first signed up that they only renewed yearly after the initial 3 years. We were also promised at that time that someone would come out every 2 years to inspect the equipment and upgrade, if needed. Never happened and when we inquired we were told they never did that. I was informed that there was a contract renewal signed last August 2021 - WE NEVER SIGNED ANYTHING!!! I've been trying to get a copy of the "signed" contract but of course, they never send it. WORST SECURITY COMPANY EVER!! Do an internet search and you'll see the lawsuits and fines that states' AGs have against them and what they've had to pay out for their deceptive practices. But I guess they make way more than what they've had to pay out because they continue with these practices. They never ever contact you to let you know your contract will be expiring and renewing, never giving you the opportunity to make an informed decision with enough time to cancel. The internet is rife with complaints about how difficult and nearly impossible it is to cancel once they have you in their clutches.
